- after booking we found out that we had to pickup the keys 30 mins away from the apartment - there is mould all over the walls around the bed and they’re also dirty and marked up unlike what’s advertised - dust was piled up around the bed head area - no fitted sheet so the sheet comes loose at night and you end up on a dirty mattress - I’m 5’1 and my legs were hanging off the end of the bed because of how small it is - TV remote did not work properly - bathroom sink water fills up after 10 seconds and doesn’t go down for 15 minutes. This makes it impossible to wash your face and brush your teeth all at once. I notified the host upon checkin and he said “ok thanks”. We had to use the kitchen sink to get ready. - shower is full of mould and dirty, with no place to put toiletries. - we got 1 roll of toilet paper upon the key pickup - dining table was all damaged and we never even used it and now I received an email from the host telling me I damaged it and need to refund them. We barely even stayed in the room due to the mould as we were concerned for our health and the last thing we’d do is eat on that table. The pictures are falsely advertised and probably photoshopped to not show all the flaws. The area is nice with plenty to do. Check out the cannoli shop, the crepe/ice cream shop and Farini. They were all great. It does get a bit loud and the apartment vibrates when the trams pass but that’s the least of the worries. I would never recommend a stay here!

Only good thing was location

I absolutely cannot recommend this property to anyone. Check-in instructions are sent only after the cancellation window has passed, at which point we found out the keys need to be picked up at their office 10 min from the train station (30 min from the apt). Also, if you choose to have someone meet you at the apt to give you the keys it's an extra 19 Euros, and if you check-in after 6pm it's an extra 15 Euros. These additional costs need to be disclosed in the listing! The shower doors obviously were not scrubbed clean before our stay, the drain plate was loose & lifted out of place if you stepped on it (hazardous), there's nowhere to put your soap/shampoo except on the floor of the shower, & they installed a HUGE rainfall shower head in a teeny tiny shower so there's no way to avoid the water flow if you're trying to keep your hair dry. Awful design. Worst part of our stay was they took away the A/C remote and said we cannot use it "because of the weather." When I called Vrbo for help they contacted the host, who told Vrbo the same thing but offered a 15% refund of our stay. When I asked for a fan to help circulate the air they said they would bring one but never did. When the refund was finally processed 2 weeks later they only gave us 10%. We couldn't even crack a window or open the front door without mosquitos or cigarette smoke entering the apt. Throughout our stay and afterward our host never responded to my messages through Vrbo.

Lovely apartment but some major issues

Pros: cute, nicely furnished apartment in a great quiet area inside city center but away from the crowds. Tram line straight to Duomo right outside your door. Several ancient sites within a 5 minute walk. Cute cafes and shops all around. Very secure building. Supermarket in easy walking distance. Cons: check-in is extremely inconvenient unless you pay extra to have them meet you at the apt, which to me is unacceptable. Given a sack with 1 roll of toilet tissue, a tiny bar of soap & 2 coffee pods at check-in. We were there 7 days so had to buy more. Aren’t bath tissue and soap basic items that should be provided for the entire stay? There were not enough linens for the whole stay. A washer, but no dryer so towels wouldn’t be dry in time to use in the evening. Shower has no shelf for soap or shampoo. Didn’t want to place the tiny bar of soap on the shower floor so used a kitchen chair set outside the shower stall. No kitchen towel, paper products of any sort or cloth for wiping counters. No basic condiments. No salt, pepper, sugar, olive oil, basic spices, etc. Dishwasher had a strong foul odor so did not use & had to buy dishsoap and sponge. Bed linens ok quality but sheet too small, came loose at night so you wake up on a dirty mattress (multiple yellow stains) and no mattress cover. Duvet cover but no duvet (huh??) Bedroom wall filthy with black hand prints and scuffs. IMHO management style too impersonal, missing many basics so overall not such a comfortable stay.

Poor communication/amenities

In order to check in, we have to pick our keys up on the other side of Milan. It was very frustrating carrying all of our luggage and getting on another train. The apartment had AC but the owner took away the remote prior to our stay. The place was very hot and hard to sleep because of the heat. Lastly, the bedding bad. The owner did not use a fitted sheet which was uncomfortable during the night. They sheets went everywhere. Overall, the place is in a good location and it is cute.

Not great for 1 night stays

Had to get key from office then drive 30 minutes to actual apartment. No loading in front of place. If you drive down the street will get $100 fine. We weren't told this. The air wasnt working and not worth the hassle to stay here.

Lovely!

This was a wonderful place to stay. The apartment was beautiful, clean and well placed. The street was vibrant with restaurants and shops and a short walk to the Duomo. Although it was on a busy street, it was tucked into the building so very quiet and serene. The only issue I had was the space under the bed seemed a bit musty. A dehumidifier would be a welcome addition.
