About this property

CANDLEBERRY COTTAGE, family friendly, with a garden in Ambleside

Candleberry Cottage is a 4 bedroom cottage filled with character, part of a Grade II listed Chapel in the heart of Ambleside.

Amenities: Gas central heating. Double electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, 50 inch smart TV with Netflix, amazon etc available (wifi already available), WiFi. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Shared garden with seating (the grounds owner has decided to re-wild the garden). On site parking for 1 car only, in the allocated space, further parking is off site. Sorry, no pets welcome and no smoking. Pub and shop 5 mins walk.

Town: Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

Lovely location but hope you don’t get any problems staying there as no one responds to calls.

We enjoyed the location of our stay and the facilities were adequate. The property was very clean on arrival. The description said there was only one parking spot and there was room for 2 cars. The stairs and floorboards creaked which made it difficult for those needing the bathroom at night not to wake children and other adults. The beds were very narrow for 2 people sharing. The toilet in the main bathroom became blocked and we called for help but the number was only for in hours service. I called thé out of hours emergency number and no one responded or came. The smell was terrible and all 5 adults had to use the en suite. Not very private as people passed the kitchen and living room windows.
