Couples and family bookings only.. Sunset View is a characterful sandstone conversion from what was once a modest hay store. Newby Farm is tucked away down a long private road, surrounded by rolling fields which the barn looks out on to. This is a great spot for wildlife watchers, with hare, deer and a huge variety of birds all on your doorstep. You have your own parking spaces, as well as a patio where you can soak up the sun, or in the evening you can lie under the stars which light up the night due to the area having little light pollution.
Stepping inside you have the living/dining room with glass doors bathing the room in light, and comfortable seating around the TV. There is also a drop leaf table and foldaway chairs. The kitchen is modern and well equipped, with everything needed for a self-catering stay. On the ground floor there are also two bedrooms, a double as well as a bunkbed room. The ground floor is completed with the shower room, where you can start and end each day refreshed. Upstairs on the first floor is the second double bedroom. Sunset View is a great choice for families as well as couples and friends.
The area is a walkers’ delight, with bridle paths and cycle tracks laced over the surrounding countryside. This is a perfect location from which to explore the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Heritage Coast of Yorkshire. Just half a mile away is a great garden centre with a café, children’s play area and crazy golf. Great Ayton is just six miles away and is a wonderful place for picnics and feeding the ducks, and the streets are lined with tea rooms and fascinating shops. Captain James Cook was born here and a visit to the museum is a must.
Pop into the famous Suggits Ice Cream Shop and take a stroll along the river, or drive over the heather clad moors and visit The Moors National Park Centre and quaint little villages tucked away in the valleys. The market town of Guisborough hosts two weekly markets and is home to the ancient priory ruins. The pretty Georgian town of Stokesley has a monthly farmers’ market and an agricultural show in September. Golfers can enjoy a driving range or a round of golf on the 9-hole course, or for the whole family there’s crazy golf, foot golf and the Pinchinthorpe Walkway Centre, a brilliant place for both children and adults. There is also the Middlesbrough Golf Club just one and a half miles away.
Further afield you can discover Castleton, Hutton-le-Hole, Lealhome, with its picnic areas along the river and Goathland, where the TV series ’Heartbeat’ was filmed. Hop aboard the steam train and take a memorable journey through the glorious Esk Valley to the coastal town of Whitby. Saltburn-by-the-Sea is a traditional Victorian seaside resort with sandy beaches and quaint shops, and you also have Staithes and Runswick Bay nearby to discover. This is a wonderful destination for dogs, but please keep them on a lead as there are sheep in the fields next door. This property can be booked together with The Hay Barn next door (ref UK41602) to accommodate up to 10 guests.
