About this property
Secluded Shepherds Hut, with a view and hot tub
You’ll love my place for its atmosphere, uniqueness and secluded, idilic location with stunning views over the Devon countryside.
It has an air of creativity and love, with a cosy natural feel.
The views overlook forest, valley, and stream. With hot tub it’s the perfect place to unwind. Dartmoor is a glorious play ground with wild ponies, bouldering for climbers, rivers and beaches nearby for swimming. Many Neolithic stone circles around. Ashburton, a town famous for antiques and fine foods.
The space
The hut is off grid, so you will have a taste of what living simply and close to nature is like, but still enjoy having the luxury and comfort of my hut. Hopefully you'll be inspired and go away with an experience of living off-grid, and a greater appreciation for nature, and what we take often for granted in this modern and busy world.
The woodwork is beautiful and the whole dwelling is uniquely crafted using only natural paints and materials so as to minimise anything harmful to both the environment and the people living in it.
Similarly the washing and cleaning is done with non toxic environmentally friendly products.
Do let us know in advance if you would like to use the hot tub so we can prepare it and treat the water with chlorine. We will need to know length of use as we charge £85 for 3 days.
The water is not mains but spring water (and can be unpredictable in terms of pressure and consistency), it’s the farms own naturally sourced water and it is drunk by the family, however is is not possible to test water constantly so for this reason I can not say that it is drinking water.
Family’s wanting to stay with kids. Patients will need to take responsibility for their children. There are animals on the farm and areas with machinery and unusual terrine.
Dogs should be kept on leads and any mess safely disposed of.
But guests will have the benefit of having the entire feild to themselves with little if any interruption.
The hut is solar powered and this relies on there being enough sunshine. As such there may be occasional blip in power availability.
There are snacks and general food in the cupboard that your welcome to help yourself to during times that COVID guidelines do not stipulate that we are not allowed to. Along with fresh herbs from bay tree or herb pots.
If you want any fresh local produce, I can put you in contact with the farmer.
Guest access
There is an exclusive private drive, leading to the Hut with parking in the bay right in front.
Other things to note
The toilets are compost ones and need a small handful of sawdust after use.
The shower is attached to the hut itself but positioned outside, with some screening for extra privacy and to act as a wind barrier.
