Very nice location - but unfortunately with a construction site

The apartment/residential building is located in a wonderful setting, directly opposite the Hotel de Matignon. Since a new Prime Minister was inaugurated in September 2024, there were often many journalists and police forces in front of the house entrance. So you were well guarded! The apartment itself is tastefully furnished and equipped with many technical devices. Unfortunately, the apartment is quite dark, cool, damp and poorly ventilated (see low floor windows). On hot summer days this was not a problem, but in wet, cold weather and when laundry also had to be dried (the dryer function of the washing machine did not work), the living climate was not very pleasant. The service was very good. In a situation where I needed technical help, they were quick and helpful Attention construction site! During my entire stay, a large and probably long-term renovation of the left side of the house was taking place in the inner courtyard. When I booked and also later before my arrival, I was not informed about possible construction site noise (work with circular saws/percussion drills etc.), which actually took place daily from 8 am to 5 pm, It was only possible to relax in the apartment during the day during the one-hour lunch break of the construction workers. Unfortunately, it was not possible to use the apartment as a vacation apartment promises! My complaint (which was forwarded to the homeowners by the service department) has still not been responded to.

Nice Neighborhood

This property, in the 7th arrondissement, is directly across from the French Prime Minister's official residence. There is a lot of police (gendarmes) and military protection on the street which lends itself as a safe place to stay. The apartment was generally clean (floors, sheets, towels), but the cutlery, plates & bowls, pots & pans all had to be washed before they could be used. There were pockets of dust under shelves & the sofa. While vacuuming, food was found under the washing machine (cherry tomatoes, broken cookies). The bathroom & kitchen were clean, but the kitchen sink is tiny & hard to reach; at a strange angle. It is a small oval shape & probably meant as a bathroom sink. The pictures of the building are of the grand mansion with the beautiful (and historically registered) courtyard, however the apartment is in an old back building and was probably used for maids' quarters (chambre de bonne). The stairway was circular & old, windows with missing panes of glass, paint on walls was very old, chipped and peeling--dark green with exposed plaster underneath, but the apartment is just as the pictures show. Apartment size is good for one or two people. The cotton rug on the floor (see advertised pictures) was being used as a sofa cover; there were stains. So no rug, just wooden floors. Overall the apartment had everything needed, but the "washer/dryer" doesn't dry well. Be prepared to hang clothes to dry. There were plenty of hangers & shelves.
