We loved staying on the island. The house was very nice and as described. Cornhole boards, ladder ball, bikes and a grill to use included. The owners were very sweet and helpful. Our family loved staying there and look forward to coming back!
The location was amazing! We were in town for the Conde Cavalier's Fishing Rodeo and we were right down the street from the location. Such a cute house and quiet neighborhood.
We had a great time at Dauphin Island. This home was at the center of the island, or it seemed like it. The drive to the beach or anywhere on the island was easy from the house. The home owner was very sweet and responsive if we had a question or needed anything. I loved we could wash all of our beach stuff off outside the house too.
Would 10/10 recommend, has great accommodations for handicapped persons and was very clean! The owner is very sweet and went out of her way to make us feel welcome
This is the perfect little home for a South Alabama getaway. Everything you need, and just feels like home. The hosts are great and excellent at communicating. If you need a 5 Star resort, go spend your money elsewhere….but if you need a great place for a family vacation on Dauphin Island this is the place!
Margie and Carroll are gracious and attentive hosts. They made sure we had a great experience on our first visit to Dauphin Island. The house had everything we needed including a roomy kitchen and comfortable beds. The location was convenient. The locals were all so welcoming. We were greeted with a smile and wave everywhere we went. Very comfortable and relaxing.
Was in town for a triathalon. Needed a place in a pinch. Margie and her husband were great hosts. Very friendly, they live right next door and are there if you need anything!
The house is located in the center of the island with about equal distance to either end. It is bigger than what shows in the pictures. It can easily accommodate more than six people and we really appreciate the twin beds that is perfect for kids who don’t want to be in one queen bed. The washer/dryer and the fully equipped kitchen are a big plus for our vacation. And it is nicely decorated with ocean theme. We really enjoyed it.
This home is old and needs a lot of updates, but it was as clean as you can get. The beds were comfortable. This home sleeps 9 but we only had 2 adults and 2 children and we all shared a bathroom, can't imagine sharing one bath with 9.
The house was fine, a bit dated, especially the bathroom. The problem we had with this property was that the owner texted me as we arrived and said she would come over to the house in 30 minutes to collect the 11% occupancy tax that we knew nothing about. She said this tax was listed in a contract that we never received. Our reservation and booking through VRBO showed that we were paid in full so we were not expecting to pay more upon arrival. While we were still communicating about it, the owner came over to the house immediately to collect the tax. It was all just awkward and frustrating. We left a note to the owner at the house suggesting that they correct the expected payment in the VRBO listing.
Margie was great with suggestions on activities and the house was as advertised.

About the host

My husband has been a life long resident of Dauphin Island, Al. And I've been here as long as we've been married. And that a long time. We have three children and nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. We've raised our children here one this beautiful island. We love everything about this island from the beaches, boating, biking, and bird watching.
Why they chose this property
This property has been in the family for generations. So when it came available to buy we purchased it from the family. It had belonged to my husband grandmother and its the home where he grew up. It means a lot to us. Making it a vacation rental allows us to share it with other people. We treasure all those who have visited. It sits in the middle of three lots and joins the property where we live. We are never to far away to lend a helping hand or give some good advice on where to go to the beach or a great place to eat. Great seafood can be found at most restaurants.
