About this property

The Haybarn -A wonderful barn conversion with 4 bedrooms, large garden and parking near Mousehole

Perching proudly on the hill behind Mousehole, the traditional village of Paul with its 15th Century parish church and atmospheric pub is a beautiful slice of the Cornish countryside; ideally located within minutes of the coast.

Flaunting a fabulous, newly refurbished interior, huge, landscaped garden and private parking, The Haybarn settles in its own quiet corner of the village and offers groups of friends and families exquisite holiday accommodation on Cornwall's south coast. Bright, light-filled and sophisticated, inside is all natural textures and muted hues, with sumptuous furnishings and high-quality features creating a home that is as comfortable as it is well-equipped. On the ground floor, the dual aspect living room is a lovely place to relax, with plenty of plush seating for unwinding in and a flat screen TV for movie nights in. Adjacent lies the large separate kitchen / diner, and both rooms have access out to the garden through French doors which, on bright days can be opened to extend the indoor living / entertaining spaces outside.

The home's four beautiful bedrooms comprise two doubles and two twins, with the stunning master suite having its own bathroom. There's a separate office space for guests who need to stay in touch with work, as well as a large family bathroom with freestanding bath and walk-in shower. Designed to offer a space that has as much to keep children entertained as it does adults, the home's garden features a sprawling lawn for running free, as well as a Wendy house and two swings. You'll also find a grown-up swing-chair where you can savour the sunshine, table tennis in the garage, and a spacious hot tub for lazily soaking in while the designated cook rustles up lunch. Just under a mile from Mousehole, and a little further to Newlyn, The Haybarn's location is pretty unbeatable with places like Penzance and Marazion being within easy reach, as well as the surfing mecca of Sennen and Porthcurno's breathtaking beaches.

Great house, loved the location. Only thing I would change is to provide the street address/directions for arrival. We didn’t know where to find the house in Mousehole and had to ask several people before stumbling into it.

Quiet Mousehole

Property decorated in a lovely minimalist style, but it felt like the plumbing was a last minute job. There are no locks on toilet/bathroom doors. Water moves from the main bathroom to the en-suite pushing up dirt and water. The waste pipe stopped working and needed repairing whilst we were there, so water was coming through the ceiling. The local contact had this fixed for us very quickly although the contractor, even though he knew people were staying there would just walk in to the property without knocking or calling hello. These things are relatively minor but not what I would expect for the cost. Additionally there were workmen working every weekday directly behind the house and because of the way the land is, could see directly into the en suite bathroom which was uncomfortable.

Beautiful house with the best garden

Such a gorgeous house with plenty of room. The garden was definitely the top scorer for 'best part of the house'. Bedrooms were all lovely and spacious, (bigger than they look in the pictures) very comfy beds and great communal bathroom. Windows definitely need a clean- we were too scared to open the velux windows after a couple of large spiders hopped in the first time (lots of cobwebs and spiders around those windows), the fridge water filter was on red so needed changing but not the biggest deal for us, the kitchen was absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed, including tupperware. We stayed at the Haybarn as accommodation whilst we were on placement for university to work in a school for a week, so unfortunately we didn't get to be in the house much- it would have been amazing if we could have stayed longer. Sadly the dishwasher wasn't working properly but wasn't the biggest issue- Sophie was very quick at replying so if we did need anything fixed/changed whilst we were there I'm sure she would have sorted it very quickly. The ensuite bathroom was suitable, quite low ceilings so if you want the ensuite, make sure you mind your head! The lights are automatic for bathrooms and some cupboards which became quite confusing as we wouldn't know whether the lights were on because of the switch or automatically on. The hot tub was such a bonus and we were very lucky with the weather. The WiFi did cut out due to the rain on our final night- so good weather is definitely key, but there are plenty of games and a table tennis table (which we didn't have time to use :( ) to keep you occupied and off devices! Honestly, what a beautiful house though! Overall it was a great stay, only a couple of tweaks but nothing major which could have made it better but that's all. Thank you so much for our stay

We had a lovely stay

We had a lovely stay at The Haybarn! It is beautifully decorated and is extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need in a home away from home. The beds were all very comfortable too. The kids loved the Wendy house and the space to play in the garden. The hot tub was a relaxing treat for the adults too. The driveway access is very tight - we fitted a Volvo xc90 in but it did involve a tricky reversing manoeuvre to get right around the corner into the drive.

Familienurlaub

Beautiful property in a lovely location.. a few tweaks could make it perfect!

Overall the property and our experience at the were lovely. The village of Paul has a fantastic pub with good food and the walk down into mousehole is around 10 mins and we loved Mousehole, plenty of bars, pubs cafes etc. Bare in mind it's a very steep walk back up the hill, wouldn't be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. There is a bus but not sure how often it runs. The property itself is lovely and suited us well for our stay. A few minor changes I think would make the place even better would be: More comfortable seating in the garden area, like an outdoor sofa, the weather was lovely but there was nowhere to relax properly. Maybe a couple of comfy chairs or sun loungers could be stored in the small shed? It didn't bother us as there were only 3 of us staying there but be aware that the en suite bathroom to the main bedroom is very compact and anyone taller than myself ( 5ft 11 ) would struggle to stand up under the shower. We just used the main bathroom to shower, but that itself had issues as the water would run out of the shower onto the floor if it was used for too long. Saying all that, it was a beautiful property, in a lovely location and we think it was good value for money.

Lovely place, could of been better

positives, Lovely house, lovely location, great amenities. ~Negatives - No BBQ, Rooms not changed as requested, 5 poo bags found in the garden, 1 bedroom cannot be opened from the outside ( this was the bedroom the kids were in, when we went to check on them before bed we could not get into the room witch created a big panic) Tried to contact our emergency host on a number of occasions to no avail.
