Just what we needed. My family had a great time.

We have just returned home from a lovely 10 days in Vidauban. We were a couple with two children (aged 9 & 12) and the accommodation suited us perfectly. The property is attached to the main house that the owners live in. The owners were discrete and offered the maximum privacy whilst still living on-site. They were extremely helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had a relaxing time. The accommodation is clean and simply furnished with modern appliances The pool, whilst not heated, is well maintained and was a lovely 31C whilst we were there. The property benefits from air conditioning which, in the middle of the August heat, was very welcome. The owner only speaks French so you'll need at least ‘holiday’ French levels to get by. As a keen amateur photographer I was happy to accept an invitation from the owner to spend an hour taking on some of the local sites. This gave an ‘insider’s view to the area. The owners were also happy to advise on which markets were on in the various towns in the vicinity as well as other things we may want to do during excursions to the beaches and St Tropez etc. Our children loved playing with the two friendly dogs on-site but, if you or any of your party have a problem with dogs, then this may not be the property for you. There were also a few cats about but they mostly lazed in the August heat. The owner has some chickens but no cockerel to wake you up. The property is really on the outskirts of Vidauban so you must have a car. We enjoyed our time at the property and would have no reservations about visiting again.

Extrêmement décevant, nous sommes partis au milieu de notre séjour. Descriptif biaisé...

Nos attentes étaient assez simples, vivre au maximum à l’extérieur et profiter pendant nos deux semaines de vacances annuelles du paysage et du calme. Selon le descriptif photo et les commentaires, l’endroit correspondait. Mais la réalité était autre. La dite dépendance se trouve sur l’arrière de la maison des propriétaires et aucune photo ne laissait apparaître la vision d’un parking et d’un terrain en friche à moitié en chantier puisqu’il s’y trouvait un monticule de sacs de ciment surmonté d’une brouette retournée (pour finir le portail ?), un vieux motoculteur remisé dans un coin, un gros engin de travaux publics avec ses godets et je ne sais combien de mètres de tuyau d’arrosage laissé au sol dans le passage qui mène au salon extérieur. Si nous avions eu la vision à 180 degrés de ce fatras en photo sur le site, nous n’aurions pas loué. Nous n’avions pas compris non plus que la piscine est sous les fenêtres du propriétaire et des photos qui ont été depuis retirées, entretenaient le doute sur le fait que nous avons cru louer une partie privative du propriétaire. On pourrait ajouter une animalerie en liberté non mentionnée sur le descriptif : une basse-cour avec un coq qui se manifeste quotidiennement très bruyamment à 5h au mois d’août, un chien, des chats intrusifs dès que vous laissez quelque chose d’ouvert. Pour le calme il y a aussi un voisin qui peut faire hurler sa sono en journée voire le soir jusqu’à 1h 30. Bref, le seul point positif est l’équipement de la maison à l’exception toutefois du couchage. Cela nous a pris un certain temps pour acquérir la sérénité nécessaire avant de pouvoir expliquer au propriétaire notre profonde déception et notre amertume de constater que les 2 semaines de vacances annuelles étaient gâchées et que nous partions au bout d'une semaine. Nous avons suggéré une indemnité pour non conformité avec le descriptif et il nous a été proposé un crédit de 50% sur la 2e semaine. Malgré une relance, nous n’avons rien vu venir. On touche ici la limite de ce que l’on peut faire en matière de présentation biaisée de location pour laquelle il faut en plus payer d’avance. Cela nous servira de leçon pour l’avenir...
