Converted in 2012, Cordwell Cottages are set on a working farm on the edge of the Peak District. Cordwell Farm is in the hamlet of Cordwell, only a five minute walk from the friendly local pub and is well located for visiting the Peak District. The cottages have been converted from the old cowshed to an excellent standard, providing luxury accommodation while retaining the original features of the building. Lavender Cottage sleeps 2 people in one double room. We have 3 cottages onsite so can sleep 10 people in total (HAUK 12215798 and HAUK 12215766)

Check in was easy, the property was clean, comfertable and cosy, we had a great stay, the location was perfect, there was no service and we couldn’t get onto the WiFi in the villa but the time away from our phones was very refreshing, I would definitely recommend staying here, and if you do make sure you head into bakewell !
Cottage contained everything we needed and more, lovely touches like fresh flowers and a bottle of wine. Set in a lovely farm yard with easy access to the sights we wanted to visit
My wife and I loved our short stay in Lavender Cottage. It was extremely clean and very well decorated. The owners even left some supplies for our stay of bread, milk and butter which was very useful. The area was very quiet with a very nice pub a 5 minute walk away.
A beautiful property, very spacious, bed very comfortable indeed, outstanding help from the lady who checked us in. She even lent my husband a tie for the wedding we were going to, as he had forgotten to bring one! Lovely area and a nice pub down the road.
We thoroughly enjoyed our short break in Lavender Cottage. It was well equipped, very clean and comfortable and Millthorpe is a lovely base for exploring the Peak District. Owners were helpful and welcoming and there was lots of interesting horse activity to watch on the farm. The local pub was a short walk away and also very welcoming. Thanks for a great stay.
We stayed here for a month in between house moving. The cottage was very comfortable, well equipped and peaceful.
Excellent hot water supply and very warm accommodation. Firm bed.
Good parking (we had 2 cars).
It is a very attractive part of the country with massive walking opportunities. Good walks straight out of the door.
I would recommend this cottage.
Thankyou

Great stay in a perfect location. Many thanks to the lovely hosts. The cottage was spotless and the additional supplies of soap and sanitiser made us feel reassured that the hosts had followed COVID regulations 110%.
The cottage is perfectly located to explore most of the Peak District.
This is an excellent and spacious property for two people located on a working farm. As an adult, I still enjoyed listening to and watching the horses and the tractor! Right on the edge of the Peak District and fantastic for a multitude of walks. Superb at this time as social distancing was easy. We would love to return.
Perfect property, location and hospitality, could not fault.
We had an absolutely fantastic stay, the place was ideal for us and immaculately clean. Janet, William, Rachel and co. all made us feel very welcome. We will be back!
Thanks to Rachel for the welcoming Bakewell pudding, etc. It was enjoyable for us as horse/farm lovers to be in a cottage on a livery farm and see the riders and hear the clopping and neighing, and also be so close to the Peak District. The cottage itself is well appointed and spacious (the bed is firm), just on the outer edge of the cluster of buildings. For anyone with disabilities I should point out that the apparent front door in the picture is actually a decoration, and access is at the rear across several meters of crushed stone and up 4 not too high steps.

Quality and friendly- great base to explore from- Lavender Cottage
Good quality, very clean and comfortable. Delighted with the accommodation and setting. Peaceful location with the horses from the livery adding interest to the day, just outside the plentiful windows. The kitchen is very well equipped with a full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a good hob ( plus oven, toaster, microwave etc). There is a small courtyard area where you can sit out and BBQ, which still manages to feel private and tucked away. Well placed to visit Sheffield (we took the train from Dronfield, just 1 stop and 10 minutes), explored many areas of the varied the Derwent River valley with great walks less than a 10 minute drive away, only 20 minutes or so to beautiful walks from the Tideswell area. Plenty of walking from the door too. So much lovely countryside on the doorstep that we were spoilt for choice. We spent an interesting day at Chatsworth House and gardens. It is only a short drive to Chesterfield and easy enough to get to Matlock too. Non intrusive but very friendly owners. Made to feel very welcome. We would happily return and definitely recommend this accommodation to our friends and family.

Excellent
A superb stay in Lavender Cottage. The cottage is immaculate having only recently been converted to a high standard. Plenty of space for baby cot in the bedroom and for the little one to run around inside and explore the farm out. William and Janet were really helpful too. Only negative was it turns out our daughter is terrified of lambs!
Definitely keen to return some time.

Why they chose this property
We are a working farm in a great location in Derbyshire. William loves to show people the farm and his collection vintage tractors. We are in a great position for visiting the Peak District, Chatsworth, Bakewell and Sheffield.
