Such a lovely house which was perfect for our extended family group (6 adults aged from 20s to 60s). The house provided absolutely everything we needed, with comfortable bedrooms and plenty of living space. We thoroughly enjoyed both the heated pool and the games room, and the table tennis table was the scene of fierce competition throughout our stay! It’s a perfect location for visiting the many attractions of the Dordogne and the Lot, and we will definitely book again for our next visit.
Thank you Nitya!
A stunning property with wonderful views and a much-needed pool - the weather was hot... over 35 degrees most days. The house is very comfortable and there was ample room (and more) for all of us. Everything was ready for our stay and there is more than enough to do and see.
St. Cyprien is very close with a wonderful Sunday market which is well worth visiting. Lucco is the BEST patisserie! Other great places nearby including Beynac and La Roque-Gageac. Castles are superb (Beynac, Castelnaud, etc), as are the gardens and views at Marqueyssac. BOOK EARLY for an evening meal at the Belle Etoile in Beynac and go on a Gabarre trip. Canoeing on the Vezere from Les Eyzies was much quieter and relaxing than the crowds on the Dordogne. Sarlat is amazing, as is the Gouffre de Padirac if you're happy to drive and are not worried about crowds...
Overall a great place to stay.
Bel environnement forestier.
As a party of 9, age ranging from 14 to 75, the house was perfect for us.
The kitchen was well appointed, dining room and outside dining areas comfortable.
The teens loved the games room. We all loved the pool and the many inflatables.
All beds comfy, although bedroom 5 has a very soft bed!
We had a few niggles with bed set up and a leak, but they were sorted quickly and easily.
All in all a beautiful property in a very quiet area.
I would recommend for a large group.
Thank you
Le Maroutel is a spacious, clean and well equipped house, perfect for us as we are two families. The pool was excellent especially as we stayed during a heat wave. The owner , Nitya , is helpful and easy to contact. The house is situated in a quiet rural area but St Cyprien is only 5 mins in the car with a supermarket and a visit to the market on Sunday mornings is a must. We have stayed in many French holiday homes over the last 15 years and Le Maroutel certainly rates as one of the best. We would certainly return the next time that we visit the Dordogne and would highly recommend this property.

Paradise!
What an amazing retreat the family has created! The pictures don't do the property justice...from the moment we arrived, each new corner turned left our mouths agape. The view of the pool surrounded by blooming lavender and a well-tended to garden, overlooking the fields and nearby woodlands was magical. The house is beautifully restored and offers an opportunity to step back into time - with all of the modern conveniences. The beds were very comfortable and sheets soft - a welcome benefit after long days of sight seeing, swimming, and eating much too much. The kitchen is well-equipped to make dinner at home...and like every home-kitchen the basics of olive oil/seasonings/etc. were all there (though may need to be replenished based on the previous guests).
It was hard to leave the idyllic manor, but the surrounding destinations were too interesting to pass up and for that, the location was perfect: close enough for us to make near-daily runs to St. Cyprien for groceries or morning pastries, and close to some beautiful old towns to investigate. We recommend nearby Le Bugue (Creperie L'Abreuvoir was a lovely find in the old part of town), Sarlat-la-Canéda, and Monpazier (drive through Belvès to make the most of a day trip). If you have children Roc de Cazelle is a great compromise that allows kids to run around while also being interesting for adults (albeit a little cheesy with their re-enactment scenes).
We couldn't have asked for more and strongly recommend this Dordogne home!

Tranquility tucked away
The house is tucked away in a small valley down the end of a small track. We found everything we needed in the house and the heated pool meant we spent every free minute in the pool. It is very rustic and typical of French houses in the area. The wifi worked perfectly and meant the kids could stay connected to friends although the pool always won out. St Cyprien is only 7-8 minutes drive away, with a Carefour supermarket that had all provisions. Sarlat is 15-20minutes and has a bigger E.Leclerc. The market at Sarlat is a must BUT staying at the house for 2 weeks we went twice and the market was a fraction of the size the second week. Not sure if it's massive only once a week. The area has an abundance of things to do a small drive away from visiting troglodyte dwellings, old forts, prehistoric sights and canoeing on the Vezerre. You will not be disappointed if you rent this property.

Schlossurlaub
Z.B. Lascaux, Sarlat, Domme, Bergerac, Rocamadour, etc.
Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Ideal base for exploration
This is a great place for a family holiday. Returning to the Dordogne after many years absence, we settled in very quickly in this lovely house. The hot weather meant the pool was very welcome. In the morning we saw deer grazing in the field behind the house. A short drive to St. Cyprien to stock up on the essentials as needed. Sunday morning is market day, we bought rotisserie chicken, potatoes, salad, Lucco for bread and cakes, and beer from the local "Croix du Rat" brewery. Close to the famous castles of Beynac and Castelnaud, and within easy reach of the Dordogne river for a canoeing adventure. You can go for walks in the woods around the house or simply sit on the terrace and enjoy the view. One evening two hot air balloons drifted across the sky as we sat watching the sun go down. Magical.

Spacious and peaceful manor house
This is a great manor house and really spacious. It is surrounded by its own land so is very rural and private and not overlooked. There is no passing traffic and it's peaceful with relaxing countryside views. It is managed remotely so you have the whole place to yourself. The house is old with plenty of character. The pool is a decent size and the terrace is perfect for outdoor dining. If three couples stay here they can each have their own en-suite. There is no bar or bakery in walking distance so we drove into Saint-Cyprien and Le Bugue for supplies. Both towns are attractive with places to eat and supermarkets.

Beautiful, tranquil, Perigord treasure
We were a party of 5 adults spending 2 weeks in this beautifully restored and wonderfully located house. The heated pool was a good size and very welcome as the weather was more than kind to us. The cows in the field next door strolled up to say hello, and the whole ambience and functionality of the restored house was excellent. Highlights were the Jardins de Marqueyssac, Jardins du Manoir d'Eyrignac, the river trip from La Roque Gageac, and the spa at the Hotel Les Glycines in the lovely village of Les Eyzies. Also, we recommend the 15 minute train journey from St Cyprien to Sarlat, avoiding fighting for parking space in busy Sarlat. Wifi worked well, and the kitchen was well equipped. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return. We agreed it would make a great location for a winter, Christmas or New Year gathering - maybe something for the owners to consider. Thank you for a fantastic holiday.

What makes this property unique
Our house is in a peaceful rural area with wonderful view across the valley without being too far from town, restaurants, cafe, supermarket and the attractions that the Dordogne area has to offer.
