We LOVED Apartment Belvedere. The building location is absolutely perfect for visiting all the sites in the historic center of Florence. It is only a 15 minute walk to just about anywhere, making it very convenient to drop back to the apartment for lunch, take a rest, pick-up forgotten stuff or drop off recent purchases. Tons of restaurants nearby, though we mainly cooked at home and ate in the snug kitchen. This is the only rental I've ever stayed at where the knives were sharp. The kitchen is adequately equipped, plenty of dishes, an efficient set of cookware, and nothing missing that didn't have a workaround. It takes ten minutes to toast bread in a panini press, in case you wondered. The apartment was actually more spacious than we expected. Very comfortable for a family or two couples willing to share the single bathroom. Beds were very comfortable, which I can attest to since I got dreadfully ill and had to spend two days lying down. Our host, Salvatore was wonderful, giving us guidance on finding antibiotics and offering to call an ambulance, which fortunately we did not need. He checked on us regularly to make sure I was all right. He also called a cab for us when we left, then came and waited with us until he was sure it had picked us up. There is no closet or wardrobe in one of the two bedrooms. The other bedroom has a large old fashioned wardrobe suitable for accessing fantasy realms. We did laundry in the washing machine, which takes two hours to do a load, as all Italian washers seem to, but it dried quickly on the balcony, which gets lots of direct sunlight. The apartments in this building are not fully wheelchair accessible, but there is a stairlift that gets you from the ground floor to within three steps of the tiny elevator that takes you up the rest of the way. There is only one step in the Belvedere apartment, between the bedrooms and the kitchen. So someone who has some ambulatory issues could still stay here. There are food shops and grocery stores in easy walking distance, but don't miss the fabulous public market with acres of fresh meat, produce, gourmet cheese, cured meats, sweets and specialty foods. It's only abut a 15 minute walk, like everything else. This was one of our very best VRBO stays. Highly recommended. You do get some street noise since you are in the heart of busy Florence, but this would be true anywhere you stay in the old city.
