About this property

South View, Reeth, Yorkshire Dales

Deep in the heart of Swaledale, this Yorkshire stone built cottage is full of charm and all the modern comforts you could want whilst retaining its own character and is just perfect for a family of four who love the great outdoors but still within easy reach of a small local town such as Reeth.

Enter South View through the porch into the dining room complete with a wood burning stove, dining table and chairs seating six guests and doors that lead to both the sitting room and galley kitchen. Featuring wooden floors and exposed beams the double aspect sitting room has comfortable seating around the wood burning stove and stairs leading the first floor.

The kitchen is located to the rear of the cottage and well equipped for your stay should you wish to cook up a storm after a morning exploring one of the local markets which provide an abundance of locally sourced produce through the Dales. The first floor has two spacious bedrooms overlooking beautiful Swaledale, a fantastic view in all seasons as you wake each morning. The master bedroom has a king size bed whilst the further second bedroom offers twin beds that can also be made up as a super king-size on request, making this an ideal cottage for young families or couples. There is a family bathroom which has a bath and shower overhead plus a extra w/c on the landing.

The outside space to the rear of the cottage is quite simply the icing on the cake. Featuring a raised flagged patio and seating area, charcoal barbecue, firepit, sink and even your very own wood fired pizza oven, not to mention views of the fell behind. Time spent at South View in the pretty hamlet of Healaugh will be remembered.

A short half hour walk along the River Swale will take you to Reeth, home to many cosy pubs, a bakery, coffee shops and the local weekly market (we recommend the local cheese stall). The cottage is right on the coast to coast route, so packing your walking boots and map is a must. Local bus routes run throughout the week to the historic town of Richmond, with it's mediaeval castle, twice a week market and boutique shops. This is the ideal hideaway and base to explore the Yorkshire Dales and more.

Late getaway
Lovely property in a beautiful area. Views are stunning. Fire was great. And beds were comfortable. The only downsides we had were the single beds which had been requested to be made into a double weren’t. Also some basic provisions would have been useful. There could do to be some salt & pepper cooking oil and maybe some kitchen roll. To me it’s the little things that make the difference between renting a house and renting a holiday home. Shower could also be improved.
