About this property

Periwinkle Cottage, comfortable holiday cottage in central Whitby

Periwinkle is an old Fisherman’s cottage situated in Carrs Yard, within the central conservation area of Whitby. It is ideally situated being just 2 minutes walk from the railway & bus station, shops, restaurants, pubs and harbour. The tranquil and open space of Pannett Park is across the road and Whitby Beach is under a 10 minute stroll away.

The cottage contains a lounge, kitchen, main bedroom with double bed, bathroom (with shower) and attic bedroom with two single beds. The kitchen is well equipped with oven, hob, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster. The lounge contains a smart TV, DVD player and smart speaker along with numerous DVD’s and a stocked bookshelf. Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and WiFi included.

Guest access

You'll have access to the full cottage which consists of 3 floors. The cottage has its own access from Carrs Yard.

Other things to note

Like many of Whitby’s old cottages there is no dedicated parking although you can unload and load up your car outside the cottage. There are long stay car parks within close vicinity or street parking a few minutes walk.

Periwinkle Cottage is dog friendly and we accept 2 well behaved dogs. Please note however that there is no garden or enclosed outdoor space, just an open outside area with a bistro table and chairs and a bench. The outside area is a public right of way. For the benefit of all our guests, dogs are not allowed upstairs in the cottage or on furniture. Whitby Pannett Park does not allow dogs.

The twin attic bedroom has an open steep staircase so please be careful with toddlers or small children. There is also a step down into the bathroom. The washing machine is located in the cellar/basement under the cottage with its own entrance, again down steps. Not recommended for anyone who has difficulty negotiating steps and stairs.

One week with family in Whitby

We had a good stay for the whole family in the Periwinkle Cottage. The cottage is fully equiped for autark living and each of us four had enough space for himself. On the other hand the cottage is near the centre of Whitby and you can reach beach, restaurants, a supermarket, ... easy by foot. Communication with the host was uncomplicated but not really necessary - everything was well prepared. In case of another stay in Whitby we would again consider Periwinkle Cottage as an attractive accomodation.

Periwinkle perfection.

A clean, cozy cottage, very conveniently located for access to all the best amenities that Whitby has to offer. Only a short stroll to the harbour and interesting museums. The wonderful shops with Whitby treasures such as fossils jet and antiques were within a few minutes walk, as were lots of places to eat. Loved the cottage and had a great holiday.

Easy access down to harbour and tons centre.

A beautifully clean property with everything you need for a holiday stay. Comfy bed for a good night’s sleep. A lovely welcome basket , including a doggy gift. An easy to use free-parking permit. Close to everything Whitby can offer . Unfortunately for me, Whitby is just too busy for my dog and the nearest park does not allow dogs .

Bank Holiday in Whitby

We arrived and entered the property using the key safe quick and easy There was a lovely welcome pack there was even a gift for our four legged friend who was very pleased All information you needed was in a comprehensive guide The property was within easy walking distance of all Whitby had to offer You could park the car and not move it until the end of your stay Parking was easy we used a local street this was made possible because of the four day parking permit that was provided The property was compact but had every thing you needed The area was quiet I would definitely stay here again
