Perfect relaxing break in Northumberland

Stayed with my wife and 10 year old daughter, Sandpiper was perfect for a 3 night stay. Really cosy but plenty of room in the shepherds hut. Stargazing through the glass ceiling with our daughter at night after pizzas on the log fired oven and a hot tub a total highlight. Great memories. Seemed to have everything we needed, big comfy bed, cosy log burner inside when the weather got colder on the last night. Beautiful views our over the fields to the coast and Beadnell Bay. Short walk into the village to a couple of good pubs and close to the beach so location is great too. Only thing is the road that runs in front of the huts, it's quite busy during the day but traffic calms down in the evening so does get more peaceful.

Another fab stay

It's our 3rd time at the Sandpiper, we love the location and use it as a base to explore the north east coastline. We love using the wood fired hot-tub and our dog loves lying on the grass area outside the hut. highly recommended place to stay, we will be back.

Not quite what we expected

First feeling when we pulled up was that the location was not going to be the peaceful setting we were expecting from the description. Granted it has beautiful views out across the bay but the hut is alongside the main road into Beadnell. The road is in between the hut & the view but not shown in any photograph. Whilst we are not talking M1 traffic volumes, cars are up & down the road, some at speed, most of the time, so sitting outside wasn’t exactly tranquil. The hut is well equipped with clean linen & towels plus it has a fantastic shower! We never intended to cook every meal in there as we were keen to try out restaurants in the area but was disappointed to find on our first evening, that some of the pans & glasses had been left dirty with food stuck on them so & clearly not cleaned/checked by anyone before we checked in. So our first job was to wash up what we needed to use. The floor around the log burner & under the bed were both very dusty with ‘fluff’ collected at the foot end of the bed where the table adjoins it. Having stayed in several shepherd’s huts before, we fully appreciate that we were in effect camping so not to expect 5*hotel accommodation standards of cleanliness as technically, we were staying outdoors but surely you should get basic cleanliness, particularly pots & pans? We had a very enjoyable few days in Beadnell but we spent a lot of time out & about more than we had intended to do, rather than spending more time enjoying the features of the hut we’d paid for, purely due to its location. Sorry but not our idea of a peaceful location.

Sandpiper

A new experience for us and enjoyable. We loved the hot tub; very easy to heat and operate. The facilities were clean, good having a full bathroom and kitchen equipment and utensils plentiful. The steps into the hut and the height of the bed could be a challenge to those less mobile.

Perfect place to switch off

Perfect place to get away and switch off. The hut provides everything you need for a relaxing stay. Lovely comfy beds and cosy fire. Would love to come again in the summer and make the most of the fire pit and BBQ. Some dirty cutlery in the drawer and the bedspread was torn, otherwise couldn’t fault it. Loved our stay ❤️Prosecco and chocolate were a thoughtful touch.

Lovely hut. Clean and done out very nice it’s not basic at all like other shepherd huts . Everything you need is provided and thought of . Hot tub was great and enclosed garden for the dog . 10 mins walk to beadnell and another 5 mins to beach . Great value for money . Comfy bed . On a busy main road however there is a path all the way into beadnell so was no problem. Glass star gazing roof was wonderful. Had a great stay and will definitely be going back !

Spot on!

Everything was thought of to make the stay comfortable and plenty of info in advance to prepare- so were able to take suitable food for the facilities. Spotless and comfortable- couldn’t have asked for any more. Thank you so much for making it so lovely!

Fantastic coastal break!!!

Just want to say a big thank you for a lovey weekend stay in your shepherds hut. The place was superb, loved the stargazing windows in the roof. The girls enjoyed there bunk beds and hot tub. Only a few points to improve what was an outstanding stay is the duvet on the king size bed was to thin for the night time as it went freezing cold so maybe that could be looked at. Also only having the log fire for heat, could do with more logs with your booking. Apart from this we will be returning hopefully more in the summer months as this was a fantastic place to stay to explore the Northumberland coastline. Thankyou and see you again soon!!!

Beautiful little hut with great hot tub. Customer service was excellent and check in really easy. Hot tub was easy to light and use. Although quite close to the road, was great for accessing Beadnell and the cafes/restaurants in the area. Everything needed was provided and check out was easy as well. Overall, a great experience and would definitely recommend!

A wonderful stay!!

Such a lovely quirky property to stay in! Location was great, we could see the sea and walk to Beadnell easily. We walked from the hut to Bamburgh and back which, despite the strong winds that day, was lovely. Facilities were great, the shower is amazing and the welcome drink and chocolate were much appreciated! Looking at the stars through the glass roof was magical. We will definitely return!

Great Place to Stay

This accommodation provides a great balance between getting away from surplus technologies but having sufficient appliances to make it perfect for a refreshing getaway break. Excellent location with plenty to do in the local area and very helpful hosts. We (2 x adults and a 7 year old) thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Hidden gem

After passing this place numerous times we decided to book. We took our 2 grandson who absolutely loved it. They played football , scratch, we played uno round the outdoor table after a bbq. We all loved the hot tub. The boys loved looking at the stars and red moon through the binoculars that were provided. A great 15min walk to village and beach. We visited Seahouses and beadnell beach. Fantastic place so quaint .

Lovely stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sandpiper. The beds were comfortable and there were some lovely details and extras. There was an enclosed garden, safe for the children to play in. The only slight negatives were proximity to the road (it just spoilt the view ever so slightly) and some oil provided in addition to the salt and pepper would be good - both minor things and didn't spoil our stay. We all enjoyed using the hot tub, and had a couple of very relaxed evenings in it. Would definitely recommend to others and we hope to come back again soon.

Unique accommodation….. in a great way!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sandpiper. Lovely view of the sea in the distance. The wood fired hot tub was a fun experience, the beds are very comfortable, essentials for a kitchen, nice shower. It’s amazing what comforts they have managed to fit into that space. Be prepared for some traffic noise as it’s close to a fairly busy road. LOVED Bamburgh, strolling magnificent beaches in the area and a day of exploring Holy Island. Lots to do that’s for sure.

10/10 an amazing staycation

We have nothing bad to say about the sandpiper. Prior to arriving the customer service was brilliant from Sam. She went above and beyond to make sure the hit was practical for our needs. The bed is super comfy and the indoor wood burning fire heats the place up. It’s so cosy. So relaxing. We will be back.
