About this property
Bothy near the woods
This modern bothy, situated on the edge of ancient forests, would make an ideal holiday or base for adventures. As well as local walks and the riverside village of Nethy Bridge, it's only a short drive to the Cairngorms for skiing, hiking & biking.
The space
The Bothy is recently redecorated and was built about 10 years ago. It has its own decking outside and front door to enter. There is space to sit out on the decking and outdoor seating. However, please note that our house is on the same site and shares the large garden. Please also carefully note that the Bothy does not have its own 'garden' and we do have two small children who do play all around the garden. However, we will do what we can to respect your privacy so that you can enjoy your holiday and are always looking for ways to improve.
Downstairs there is a large open plan living area with kitchen, dinning table and sitting area and washing machine. The kitchen is an Ikea style "kitchen in a cupboard" with electric rings, sink, small fridge/freezer, and a combi oven/grill/microwave.
Upstairs there is a king-size bed in a large double bedroom with ensuite bathroom (shower but no bath). There is a small double sofa bed that sleeps 1 adult or a child.
No smoking in the property or outside in our garden.
1 well behaved dog allowed but not allowed upstairs in property.
Guest access
Please note that the Bothy is on the same site as our house. Also we do access the garage/bike store which is part of the same building as the Bothy to access our bikes in the mornings for school run.
Other things to note
- Hot water and central heating.
- Towels and bed linen provided.
- Hairdryer provided.
- Wifi
- We are happy to accommodate an extra small child (under 10) if they are happy to share the sofa bed with sibling etc
One well behaved dog allowed but please keep on a lead at all times on our property. Dogs not allowed upstairs in property please.
Basic supply of tea, coffee, and cereal provided for breakfast if you are short of supplies.
Please note that the village shop has recently closed down. There is however Balliefurth Farm Shop 10 mins walk from the Bothy which is a butchers/ farm shop open 6 days a week and sells milk and bread.
Garden furniture provided to enjoy sitting out on the decking.
We aim to be child friendly but please discuss with us if you have any queries. There is a travel cot and high chair and stair gate at the top of the stairs. We may be able to lend you some baby essentials but please discuss with us before your trip.
We can offer a single person discount at quieter times of the year, please ask for details.
Washing machine in the kitchen.
We can offer bike storage in the adjoining garage for 2 bikes only. We do have an outdoor tap and would ask you to ensure that you clean bikes before storing them. We can also help with use of a pump and bike stand if needed for repairs.
Andy is a qualified outdoor instructor and can provide mountain biking, road cycling, hill walking, rock climbing, winter mountaineering or winter climbing excursions either full day or half day depending on the sport. Please contact us in advance for more details and prices if you are interested. Please note that this will usually need to be arranged in advance due to availability.
We are trying to reduce our carbon footprint and recycle as much as we can. We use fairly traded goods where possible.
