About this property

Beautiful, traditional rural cottage

Situated by a winterborne river in the centre of a lovely village, Willow Cottage is a beautiful, traditional brick and flint detached cottage with a pretty cottage garden. Inside it is exquisitely decorated and has everything you need to make your break comfortable and special. The village has lots of amenities and is close to Stonehenge Heritage Site and several other interesting places to visit, such as Frome, Winchester, Bath, The New Forest and the stunning city of Salisbury with its beautiful cathedral.

Willow Cottage has a beautiful traditional two-person wooden Hot-Tub for guests to enjoy. The Hot-Tub is electric (9KW) and there is a pre-payment electricity meter located inside Willow Cottage to the right side of the front door that takes both £1 and £2 coins. Please bring coins with you if you intend to use the hot tub, alternatively you can change money at the local post office if you ask nicely. Typically, the hot tub will take between 3 - 4 hours to heat up to 37'c and this will cost between £8 - £12 depending on the ambient temperature outside, once heated up, the hot tub will remain heated at a further cost of approximately 30p - 50p per hour. We charge the electricity to guests at the current market rate (0.40p/Kwh) and we do not charge for use of the hot tub in the base rental rate for the cottage. Use of the hot tub is from 06:00am - 11:00pm for guests who want to enjoy this amenity. Please take the time to read the Hot-Tub guidance information when you arrive.

There is a gas BBQ and seating on a spacious outdoor patio area with large umbrella.

The living room fireplace is a working open fireplace, you can buy logs from the local Coop and enjoy the cozy fireplace.

Beautiful homely cottage

We had a fabulous weekend stay at this cottage. It has everything you need and was a great winter retreat with roaring fire and outdoor hot tub. The interior is decorated beautifully with lots of quirky touches throughout.

Great little cottage

Travelling with smaller children we really appreciated the toy box in the living room! The kids could get on and play whilst we unpacked and settled in - made a huge difference! Great place, location and facilities. Would definitely come back again.

Great place

Wonderful little cottage. Host was very helpful before and during our stay. Lots of good recommendations for the area. We made use of the hot tub as well as the fireplace. Enjoyed several sites very close by. Great place to launch to see lots of things in the area. Arrange to have the hot tub preheated so we could utilize it both nights. Very enjoyable stay, highly recommend.

Beautiful cottage in Shrewton

Beautiful cottage in a lovely small town. We chose this location to facilitate exploring nearby sites (e.g. Stonehenge). Met several local residents while walking around, all of whom were both friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for a quiet stay in the country and for a 'home base' for short drives to many sites.

Great stay

We loved the cottage. They communicated very well, it was clean, and had everything we needed. If you are not from this area it was a bit hard to find because the gps was telling me on the other side of the road, and I didn’t know how to make an international call. I after walking into someone else’s backyard they were happy to help me find where the cottage was. I would highly recommend this stay for anyone. It is very close to Stonehenge, within a few minutes.

Overall such a great property to stay at! Clean and organized, kitchen had everything needed to make a meal. Owner even arranged a flower arrangement for my arrival for my significant other! Only suggestion would be to gravel the foot path to the gate, as the ground was wet, soft and starting to turn to mud. Also maybe place a light at the gate as we arrived in the evening and was a challenge finding the entrance.

Charming, cozy, relaxing

We had a mini family reunion with our niece and had a wonderful three-night stay. The kitchen has plenty of tea and spices for cooking. We pleasantly used the fireplace and napped while watching Downton Abbey on Netflix. :) Make sure you visit the pub for excellent beer, the co-op for wonderful wine and prepared foods, and next door visit Billy Baxter for amazing sausages. He isn't open every day, so get there when he is. Try the Shrewton! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. All the best-A, D, and S.

Charming cottage however not good for toddlers

The cottage is lovely, however not well suited to young children. Access is across a footbridge from the high street, which makes unloading quite challenging! Access to the bedrooms is only for sure footed (not babies nor toddlers, nor elderly, weak or wobbly) people. With two-year old toddlers in tow, the stairs were quite stressful.. Baby gates would be helpful! . Also the kitchen, while quite nice and well equipped, was not childproof.

Lovely cottage in good location for us as we having a weeks cycle. On first impressions cottage was what we expected,v well stocked with cleaning products & a v impressive food store cupboard. Great laundry room. However what did let it down for us was the maintenance, peeling paint in main entrance, skirting boards really really scuffed, bathroom window does not open so overtime you can see all the water marks running down the walls, not what you want to see & it could be easily remedied. Maybe a decent size mirror in both bedrooms and a washing line would be useful instead of taking washing out of washed straight into dryer. Overall a great cottage in a good peaceful location.
