About this property
Halecat House - Large Georgian House with Garden (Dog-friendly).
Nestled in the gorgeous Witherslack Estate, this breathtaking property is ideal for families or groups eager to explore the Lake District's majestic fells and local wildlife. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Lake District while taking advantage of all it has to offer!
This late Georgian home is filled with beautiful features, many of which are original to maintain the house's charm, and most windows look out to stunning views of Arnside Knott and Grange-over-Sands. Its unparalleled grandeur comes from its history; Witherslack Manor was bestowed upon Thomas Stanley, the 1st Earl of Derby, in 1487. Halecat House was built in the mid-19th century and has been carefully preserved by The Stanley family ever since, allowing you to experience its one-of-a-kind charm like never before!
As you enter the property from the gravel parking area through the grand entrance, you'll be in awe by the double-height ceiling, grand staircase and the great library of books underneath.
Leading off the hallway is the kitchen, which is a bright and airy room, thanks to the vast sash window. The kitchen comprises modern amenities such as a dishwasher, microwave, and fridge-freezer - You'll have no trouble cooking up a family meal. Alternatively, please speak to us about arranging outside caterers for a special event.
Adjacent to the kitchen is the enormous dining room with a banquet-style table set up with chairs. This room benefits from sweeping views of the garden, fells and the bay beyond - it's pretty breathtaking!
After a day out exploring all the area has to offer, in the evenings, relax in the sitting room, complete with an open fire, comfy sofas, and a flatscreen Freeview TV & DVD combination. Guests can also access the garden via the bay windows that lead out onto the terrace area!
This unique house accommodates up to eight people in four spacious bedrooms, two of which are en-suite. On request, three additional z-beds plus bedding can be provided, extending the occupancy to 11 guests.
You have four bedrooms and three bathrooms. There is also a laundry room with a washing machine and ironing facilities. The family bathroom has a shower over the bath and a toilet.
Double bedroom with a 7-foot-long, almost three-quarter-width bed. The sizeable king-size bedroom has a sofa and dual-aspect windows with views of the garden. There is a further king bedroom with a sofa, dressing table, views of the garden, estuary bay and fells. Both king-size double bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom with a bath and WC. The twin bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a cast iron bath, WC and full-length Georgian window offering views of the garden.
The outdoor space is extraordinary indeed - imagine a warm summer's day, you're sat out on the terrace admiring the views, the BBQ is alight, and the kids are playing on the lawn; a game of cricket perhaps - a perfect family holiday. Halecat House has gorgeous flowerbeds, a damson orchard, and a listed gazebo/summerhouse.
Please Note: Due to the property's inclusion in Historic Houses, the gardens are occasionally open to the public. If you would like to make sure the gardens are closed for your whole stay, please get in touch with us before making your booking.
