About this property
The Coach House - Two Bedroom Cottage, Sleeps 4
The Coach House that dates back to 1862, which was originally a part of the rectory, retains some of its historical features. The entry point for coaches and horses can still be observed through a sizeable stone lintel at the entrance. Restoration work was carried out in 2008 and the building has since been transformed into a self-contained, two-bedroom cottage that offers self-catering facilities, a hot tub, and an attractive pergola. The renovation has been carried out with great care and attention to retain the original character of the building. In the spacious living and dining area, there are two leather couches and Fairtrade acacia furniture. Entertainment options include a TV with Freesat channels, DVD and video players, a CD player, and a PlayStation 1. Additionally, guests will find a variety of games, books, videos, CDs, and DVDs to choose from, as well as plenty of tourism information. As mobile phone reception is unreliable in this rural location, there is a dedicated landline phone for guests to use and WiFi available throughout the property. The kitchen is equipped with a range of appliances including a large fridge-freezer, gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, washer-dryer, toaster, kettle and coffee maker. In addition, it is well-supplied with various kitchenware such as plates, utensils, pots and pans, and serving dishes. The dining area is situated in the central part of the house with ample seating, and there is also an option of outdoor dining. The first bedroom is found at the front of the house and is spacious, with a traditional Welsh round window at the top. The original beams and A-frame have been kept intact to preserve the original Coach House's character. The bed can be arranged as a super-king or twin beds and there is a large built-in wardrobe. The room has two skylights that let in plenty of natural light during the day, and blackout blinds and a shutter for nighttime use. Additionally, a CD alarm-clock radio, hairdryer, and dressing gowns are provided for guests' convenience. At the rear of the house, there is a second bedroom that offers a view of forested hills through an extra window. During the right season, you can see spring lambs and Red Kites from this room. It can also be arranged as either a super-king or twin bed and comes with a built-in wardrobe. Additionally, it is equipped with a CD alarm-clock radio, hairdryer, and dressing gowns for your use. Both rooms, whilst they can be made up as twin rooms will be made up as doubles unless requested when confirming your booking. On the ground level, you will find the bathroom which includes a jacuzzi bathtub with a shower head, a toilet, and a basin. Gilchrist & Soames toiletries such as bath bombs, body scrubs, bath salts, and bubble baths are available for use. Additionally, there is a small additional WC across from the main bathroom that has a toilet and a small wash handbasin. A slate bench to the front of the house provides seating along with a cast iron table and two chairs. To the rear of the property is a four-seater wooden picnic bench with barbecue. There is also a drying rail for laundry. Attached to the Coach House is a pergola containing a 2-3 seater hot tub for exclusive use of Coach House guests. There is also a small table and chairs for dressing gowns, drinks etc. Visitors are kindly asked to familiarise themselves with the hot tub regulations before use. A starter pack of toiletries, washing-up liquid, loo rolls, dishwasher tablets etc is provided. There is a small Londis 300 yards away for a top-up of essentials. Please note: children under the age of four are not allowed in the hot tub. All bed linen and towels are included. Visitors should bring their own beach towels. The Coach House is found on the Country estate of Penmachno Hall. A former Rectory dating from 1862, Penmachno Hall is set in over two acres of private grounds fronted by the Glasgwm River. Situated in the Snowdonia National Park, just four miles from the tourist centre of Betws-y-Coed.
