This peaceful haven is just over a mile from the bustling heart of Whitby, surrounded by an abundance of riverside wildlife, including heron, leaping salmon, and very friendly ducks that often waddle up to the cottage hoping to be fed.
This is a blissful spot for taking in the beautiful surroundings, you can even watch the steam train passing by as it puffs its way into and out of Whitby to Grosmont. The Riverside Cottage is an ideal size for a family as well as friends, or even two couples travelling together. Set over three floors, this is a well-presented property sure to welcome you on a truly memorable stay with ample hassle-free parking and just a 20-minute walk to Whitby over the majestic viaduct. Stepping into the house you enter into the spacious and well-equipped kitchen adjoining the dining room which has double glass doors looking out onto the communal lawned gardens stretching down to the riverbank. On the first floor, you have the living room, enjoying views out across the river from the glass double doors leading out onto the balcony, there are three sofas in here so that everyone can relax and unwind in the evening. On this floor, you also have a bunk bedroom as well as a bathroom. In the second floor, there are another two bedrooms, both doubles, as well as a second bathroom.
In this peaceful location, you can launch your own paddleboards or kayaks, taking in the scenery from the water. Or further up the river in neighbouring Ruswarp you can hire a rowing boat or kayak for an enjoyable afternoon out on the water. For children, there is a play area as well as communal landscaped grounds to play on, with picnic benches where you can soak up the sunshine.
For walkers and cyclists, this property is the perfect place situated right next to the famous Cinder Track, the old railway line that runs over twenty miles between Scarborough and Whitby. There is always something happening in Whitby, from Goth festivals to live music and regattas. Keep an eye on the busy year-round calendar to see what’s happening during your holiday. There are many hidden coastal gems along the Yorkshire Coast, from picturesque Runswick Bay to Staithes, each with its own story of piracy and smugglers.
