Enclosed front garden with patio. No smoking.. Awd Tut’s cottage gets its name from the former resident – Old Tom, a fisherman living in the 1800s. Dating back almost four-hundred years, this little cottage still retains its old-world charm.
Once in danger of being torn down after becoming empty and derelict, a modern-day descendent of Awd Tut lovingly restored the cottage and gave it a whole new lease of life. This is now a beautiful cottage where you can create happy memories of your time at the coast. Tucked away down a little ghaut off the ever-popular cobbled Church Street. Just outside your front gate, you can see the harbour beckoning you. Tate Hill Sands is only around the corner. Steps lead you up to the entrance of the main cottage, where you step into the cosy open-plan living area, with sofas around the TV as well as a well-equipped kitchen and fold-out dining table beneath a beamed ceiling. Upstairs on the first floor, you have a family bedroom with a double as well as a single bed, the main bathroom is also on this floor. On the top floor with views over the rooftops, you have the master double bedroom with its own en-suite power shower.
Whitby is the perfect destination for anyone looking to explore the Yorkshire coast. There are some wonderful hiking trails where you can discover nearby beauty spots, the Cleveland Way along the cliff tops and the Cinder Track from Whitby to Scarborough are some of the most popular routes. There are also regular buses or even the steam train in the summer to visit destinations across the North York Moors, as well as coastal villages such as Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes. There is always something happening in Whitby, from Goth festivals to live music and regattas. Keep an eye on the busy year-round calendar to see what’s happening during your holiday. Enjoy some award-winning fish and chips, join the surf school, or take a boat trip out for maybe a glimpse of the dolphins and seals that frequent our coastline. There is lots to see and do.
