About this property

Family size wilderness style cabin just off the A1

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. Situated on a slip road just off the A1 this cabin is nestled away surrounded by dairy pasture fields and the Begwary Brook nature reserve. Just a short walk from a McDonalds restaurant and the Wyboston Lakes resort where you can find a day spa, golf and Watersport activities. Commuting to the nearby cities of Cambridge, Milton Keynes and Bedford can be achieved in around 30 minutes by car and public transport is available close by.

The space: The Cabin is in a sectioned off area within the extensive grounds of our family home. It has its own garden and outside patio areas both to the front and to the rear. There is one main bedroom with an ensuite shower* and macerator toilet. This features a comfortable king size bed and single sofa bed. In the living room area there is an additional double sofa bed, a wood burning stove*, TV and library. The cabin also features a full size kitchen including gas hob, oven, fridge, microwave and coffee machine.

Guest access: The cabin has private access through its own gate. Swimming is not permitted in the lake. Well behaved dogs are welcome (additional cleaning fee applies) but they must be leashed while in the grounds due to nearby cattle grazing and free ranging chickens. Due to being a working farm children are also welcome but must remain supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

Other things to note: Nearby attractions include Grafham water and multiple other Watersport activities. If required there is space to accommodate sailing equipment, boats, kayaks etc for the duration of your stay. Located immediately behind the property there is fishing available on the River Ouse which is overseen by the Luton Angling Club and both day and night fishing passes are available for purchase.

Message from the Hosts: Hi, we are Fiona & Nigel and we are the owners of this property and its extensive grounds. We reside in the main house with our family and this was was built in 1663 and is a working farm. Situated just off the A1 it boasts excellent transport links whilst being nestled in alongside the Wyboston Lakes Resort. We are both well travelled with Fiona having worked as long haul flight crew for many years and Nigel working in Formula One. Fiona was also previously Head of Accommodation at Center Parcs and has a diploma from the University of Bedfordshire in Travel and Tourism Management. We now bring this experience with holiday let accommodation of our own.
The town of St Neots is only 10 minutes away and there is an easy commute to Milton Keynes and Cambridge in round 30 minutes. The Shuttleworth air museum is also nearby and frequently holds air displays and special events. ** IMPORTANT please note that we do not supply bbq coal or firewood as the cabin is fitted with electric wall heating for guest comfort. A list of local suppliers are available on request. The cabin is open plan and has areas sectioned off with curtains. The en-suite shower opens directly into the main bedroom and may, therefore, not be suitable for some mixed gender groups (please consider this before reservation). We are located on a farm next to the A1, if you are sensitive to the sound of farm animals or road noise this is not the place for you, please consider this before booking as we cannot change our location. There is no footpath to the property, you are expected to walk over grass from the designated parking space or you may drive over the grass and park next to the cabin

Mr

The cabin only had 3 small electric heaters which whilst they had been on to warm up the property before arrival they were switched off overnight and the cabin was very cold in the morning. The host was asked for wood for the burner but was told that as the electricity was free it wasn't being provided so I had to provide it at my cost. The shower was very poor and the base rocked and was not stable. The trampoline has a hole in it making it unusable.
