About this property

Castleton Derbyshire Peak District Cottage ❤️ Dogs

About this space
Our lovely little cottage is about 200 years old. It's cosy and slap bang in the middle of some of the best scenery the UK has to offer. Excellent for walking, cycling or simply site seeing the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District National Park. Castleton is such a pretty little town with it's own castle, 7 watering holes (all dog friendly) fabulous restaurants and delightful cafes. We are situated between Bakewell and Buxton. PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR CLEANING OR DOGS - YOU ARE ON HOLIDAY!

The space
Our cottage is typical of the area, however, we have renovated it to a very high standard. You will have all the mod cons required these days with the feeling of living in a historical building. My back ground is tourism so I know what you want when staying away from home. This is a cosy little place and from the outside looks quite small, but inside the rooms are moderate in size, perfect for up to four people, 2-3 dogs depending on their size. The sleeping arrangements are 1 double bedroom and the second bedroom is classed as a small double with a queen size bed.

Guest access
You are hiring the entire cottage, with total privacy. A key is supplied so that you can come and go at your own times. Currently there is no access from the back of the building with no rear garden.

Other things to note
Throughout the year there are festivities going on in the area. Summer shows, Christmas carols in the caves. Just email me and I can tell you what is happening when you are thinking of visiting.

Host profile image
My background is hospitality having worked for various hotel chains around the world. I love my 3 Springer Spaniels and my very tolerant husband!

Why they chose this property

Having visited the Peaks for the past 25 years, 10 years ago we decided to take the plunge and move here. The Peak District gets overlooked with most visitors to the UK choosing The Lakes/ Yorkshire Moors or Welsh Mountains instead, but we can match the breathtaking scenery, historical houses and great outdoors. The Peak District is stunning and you won’t be disappointed when you get here.

What makes this property unique

Aww! We love our little cottage, it’s beautiful. Sitting on a quiet street in the centre of Castleton, it is a typical 250 year old farmers/ miners cottage. Small, but perfectly formed. Comfortable for 4 guests. We renovated it 7 years ago (our first holiday cottage) but I keep tweaking the interior design (my favourite hobby). It has been described by so many guests as home from home, what more could I ask for?
