With full Wi-Fi controlled and zoned central heating, LED lighting and low energy appliances throughout, the cottage is as Eco friendly as the owners can make it whilst retaining its historical character and charm. The enclosed garden includes a sunny central seating area close to the original well, once used to supply the property and its generations of past residents. There is parking for up to two cars within the garden gates. Bread Oven Cottage is truly accommodation to enjoy at any time of year!
Smailholm is set midway between the market town of Kelso and ancient Melrose, it is ideally placed as a base for many activities. Close by is Smailholm Tower, often visited in his childhood by Sir Walter Scott. The Borders are famous for historical abbeys, ancient castles, magnificent country estates, walking, biking, fishing and shooting. The cottage is also only an hour or so away from Edinburgh and just a little further from Glasgow.
One or more beds can be linked to form double or twin beds (please advise the owner of your preference prior to arrival).
