Superb, remote location

If you love walking, this is a fantastic location! Great walking routes were provided in the house which we were very grateful for. The house suffers from damp - and given the bogginess of the terrain and changeable weather that's not surprising - and we were glad we thought to bring our own fuel for the two log burners. We enjoyed playing cards, cosy in the kitchen in the evenings. The kitchen was well equipped and really well stocked with essentials, which we appreciated. The Dartmoor Inn, a stroll away, is a meat eaters' paradise and we enjoyed a generously portioned cream tea at the Two Bridges. The pasties at Lydford Farm Shop are delicious, too!

Fantastic cottage for exploring Dartmoor

The cottage was just what we hoped it would be and we had a fantastic few days on Dartmoor (it was October and we were lucky with the weather). We could walk on the moors from the front door and it had the added bonus of being a few minutes from an excellent pub! There are wonderful views from the upstairs front windows and the scenery nearby is perfect for exploring in all directions. The cottage is well-equipped and it was easy to make it warm and cozy with both background heating and lovely wood stoves.

Great views over Dartmoor

The cottage is a perfect place for walking or a bit of peace and quiet. The house is well equipped and comfortable, with views over Merrivale and Dartmoor. There is a bit of traffic on the nearby road by day, but in the evenings it is very quiet. The hosts provided plenty of suggested walks from the doorstep, and other things to do nearby. We had a very enjoyable stay.
