About this property
Refurbed for 2024: Southsea 2bd house with garden. Near sea/town/dockyard
Lovingly renovated by the owners, this 2 bedroom Southsea home for 6 guests is a picture of modern comfort. Every room has been redecorated and furnished to a very high standard, so whichever part of the house you’re in, you’ll feel relaxed and welcome.
The first room you’ll see as you arrive is the living area, as the front door opens straight into this space. A sofa bed invites you to rest your weary legs. There’s a distinctive green armchair with footrest here too, and a large wall-mounted television around which you can gather when you’re not elsewhere in the house or out and about exploring Portsmouth and Southsea.
Further along the hall takes you to the dining area and the six-seater table that’s ready to host snacks and meals as well as work and games sessions if needed. And beyond is the kitchen, beautifully modern with top quality appliances including all the essentials – coffee maker, toaster, microwave, kettle. Be sure to stock up the cupboards and the large fridge freezer with your favourite foods, and make the most of the breakfast bar area, as it’s a great place to sit and sip coffee while planning the day ahead.
Before we head upstairs, a quick trip outside to the garden, fully paved and enclosed by a wooden fence with a table and bench style seating out here too, another relaxing place that’s all yours.
Upstairs is where both of the bedrooms and the bathroom are. Like the rest of the house, they’ve been recently refurbished, delivering modern luxury aplenty. Both bedrooms have double beds (with the sofabed providing berths for guests 5 and 6). Mattresses and bedding are hotel quality and so too the towels that will be waiting for you to use in the shower room, a bright and attractive space with a walk-in shower cubicle, WC and wash basin. Your hosts will provide a few basic toiletries in the welcome pack, and you’ll find plenty of space to line up your lotions, gels, shampoos and whatever else you bring, ensuring staying here feels as much like home as you can get.
REMOTE WORKING?
The whole house is served by fast wifi and the dining table provides a great space to get your laptops and paperwork out.
BRINGING A YOUNG FAMILY?
Your hosts welcome families to stay here. If you have very young children, your hosts can provide a travel cot, kids’ utensils, a high chair and stair gates if you need them. Please just ask in advance.
LAUNDRY?
There’s a washer, dryer, iron and ironing board in the house which you’re welcome to use, ideal for anyone planning a longer term stay, or if you’re on a work trip and need to keep your clothing looking smart.
PARKING?
A permit scheme is in operation on the streets around the house as there’s no allocated parking in the area. But permits are free, so if you’re driving here, please just let your hosts know in advance and they can sort the paperwork.

Why they chose this property
Staying by the sea is always an exciting prospect, especially if you’re used to living in towns or cities. And Wainscott Terrace is just a 10 minute walk from the coastline, with Eastney Beach the nearest, and Southsea Beach only a mile away.
But staying here also gives you easy access to the shops, bars, restaurants and entertainment you may be more used to, with the bustling Albert Road barely a mile away. Gunwharf Quays is another highly recommended destination for shopping and eateries. It’s about two and a half miles from the house and also features tenpin bowling lanes and a cinema.
Of course, Portsmouth is a famous naval city, and no visit to the area would be complete without a visit to see the Mary Rose, Nelson’s ship The Victory and the wide range of museums and attractions in the area.
Other places you might want to visit include:
Kings Theatre – for great shows all year round (0.6m)
The Wedgewood Rooms - for live music and comedy) (0.6m)
South Parade Pier – for the amusement arcade and fish and chips (1.3m)
Canoe Lake – great for family picnics (1.1m)
Fratton Park – the home of Portsmouth FC (0.9m)
Southsea Common – fly kites and have a kickabout (2.3m)
Blue Reef Aquarium – get up close to all kinds of sea life (2.0m)
Another good reason for choosing to stay here is the wealth of transport options that are available. Several bus routes have stops nearby. Fratton train station is a short walk away, and connects you to Portsmouth Harbour. And you can always walk to plenty of places or catch a taxi. And if you’re driving to Southsea, a free permit is all you need to be able to park on the streets around the house.
