About this property
The Little Patio House
The Patio House, once an old storage place, is a wonderful surprise, as the visitor encounters a hidden rural retreat. As you enter the space, it becomes immediately obvious where the house takes its name from: its peaceful little patio area, which is perfect for al fresco dining with a glass of a local Kakotrigis or Petrokorithos wine or a cup of morning coffee and a laid-back brunch. Even more surprising, the house has an additional small balcony above the patio, accessible through the bedroom mezzanine area, with enough space for a couple to enjoy the sun or to have an evening aperitivo drink, a prosecco, or two. It also offers a lovely view of a typical Corfiot mansion to the South, with its cypresses and a private chapel and an opportunity to enjoy the colours of the sunset and twilight or admire, later at night, the starry summer sky.
Bathed all day in light coming from its floor-to-ceiling balcony doors, the Mediterranean sun reveals the extraordinary attention to detail that has gone into preserving its natural materials and building techniques the owner and renowned archaeologist- restorator, in combination with the carefully selected antique Corfiot furniture and furnishings. The sounds of the countryside, along with the adjacent vegetable and olive tree garden, offer to the visitors a timeless sense of place and authentic Corfiot village life. This includes frequent visits by local greengrocers (daily), fishmongers (twice a week), as well as artisan bakers (daily / on order), who sell their fresh vegetables, fruits, fish, seafood, breads, and cakes directly to the village’s inhabitants.
The main door of the house is just thirty meters from the village square, where a traditional old café and a more contemporary café offer local dishes, drinks and light meals with local wine.
The location of this bright and comfy little house and the settlement, which is only 6 km from the airport and 8 km from the city of Corfu, favours excellent walks on green paths and country roads, which connect Aghios Prokopios with the beautiful neighbouring villages. Also, the drive from the main road up to the village offers a truly fascinating experience of Corfiot evergreen nature, within idyllic scenery.
Access to the famous beaches of the island’s Central West coast (Glyfada, Kontoyalòs, Myrtiotissa, Yaliskari, etc.) is achieved via cute, traditional settlements but also green paths, full of olive groves and cypresses. The nearest beach, Aghios Gordios, famous since the ‘70s, is only a ten-minute drive, and the panoramic view, as well as the long sandy coastline with emerald seawaters, are all equally unique.
