About this property
Merchant's House- stunning seaview period home
Merchant's House is a spectacular period property with incredible sea views. Situated at the Esplanade where the Dreel burn flows into the Firth of Forth, it undoubtedly has some of the best views of the picturesque town of Anstruther. Accommodating up to seven guests, Merchant's House is a listed building, retaining many original Georgian features. It has large and bright rooms, many with dual aspect views, open fireplaces and high quality furnishings throughout.
Merchant's House is one of the most recognisable buildings in the town, with its prime position at the end of the Esplanade. With the stepping stones right at the door you can cross the beach below to reach the shorefront.
The house is packed with original features, evident from the second you step in! A spacious formal dining area with additional seating and an open fireplace leads through to a large kitchen. Open up the original wooden shutters to enjoy views across the bay from the window seat or enjoy morning coffee at the kitchen island. The range cooker and well equipped kitchen ensure you'll have all you need to cook with, and with an abundance of fresh produce available locally, you'll be spoilt for choice for ingredients and inspiration! A wide staircase leads from the dining room to the upper level, with a useful utility room and access to the rear garden at mid level. The private garden has seating to allow you to make the most of the sun all day long.
The lounge is located on the first floor. A large, comfortable sofa coupled with elegant armchairs offer the perfect place to relax, with an open fire for the cooler nights. As it is at the corner of the building, there are several windows offering amazing views across the Dreel burn, over to the shore front and out across the sea. The master bedroom, which also enjoys dual aspect views, is also on the first floor. The adjoining shower room can be accessed from the master bedroom as well as from the corridor. A further staircase leads up to the second floor where you will find the family room with a double bed and single bed and the further double room. A family bathroom with overhead shower completes the accommodation.
