About this property
Historic brutalist penthouse with terrace in North London, arch. Neave Brown.
A stunning, light-filled 2 bed modernist penthouse apartment on the historic Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate, designed by RIBA Royal Gold Medal Award winner Neave Brown. Centrally located in St Johns Wood, just off the iconic Abbey Road.
***Please note: This apartment is my home - situated on a unique and historic housing project. Please send me more details of what draws you here when you send your request. It’s essential to make sure that guests will be happy in my home, and that they will take good care of it***
The space
Featuring open-plan sitting and dining room full of modernist artworks, designer furniture and books; well-equipped kitchen, with dishwasher, gas cooker and fridge; large terrace with stunning London views; 2 large bedrooms and toilet/bathroom. Original features and contemporary design touches throughout.
South Hampstead overground is 6 minutes walk away (5 minute train ride to Euston). 139 and 189 buses take you down Abbey Road to Baker Street in 10-15 minutes. Swiss Cottage (Jubilee Line) and Kilburn Park (Bakerloo Line) are both 12 mins walk. Primrose Hill is 20 minutes walk away, Regents Park 30 mins, Hampstead Heath 35. Lots of good restaurants and bars in the area too, guests receive a small area guide on checking in.
Other things to note
*This apartment is my beloved home and I let it on Airbnb when I go away. I want all guests to feel very much welcome and comfortable - so I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know what drew you to this particular listing when you make your booking request. And please feel free to ask me any questions about the space before you decide to book.
*Shelves, coffee tables and other surfaces on the flat have my books and various other decorative objects placed on them. I do not tidy these away when I leave the flat. I would like to emphasise that if you want to stay in a stylish, living home, you will feel comfortable in my flat. If you prefer hotels or soulless serviced apartments, you should look elsewhere.
*Although located in quite a posh area, the estate which my flat is part of is owned and managed by Camden Council. It’s architecturally spectacular, totally safe, suspended in lush greenery and lovingly maintained for the most part, but it’s not a manicured newbuild housing development. If you are expecting a gated community, valets and concierges, Rowley Way ain’t for you!
*Train noise. A train line runs beneath the back of the apartment and the trains are audible from the bedrooms. I don't mind the sound of the trains, and most of my guests don't either, as they run six storeys beneath the the flat. The windows are also cleverly designed, so that if you close both the inner and outer window all you can hear is a gentle whoosh when they go past. However, if you are a very light sleeper, bring ear plugs!
*Watering plants! I have a lot of plants both inside and outside the apartment and they require quite regular watering - especially the outside ones during dry and warm summer months. I will send guests information on the day they check-in with further details of how much watering is required - please be aware of this before you request to book.
