About this property
Host & Stay | Dotty's Coastal Retreat
Summary:
Located in the quiet village of Staithes, Dotty’s Coastal Retreat is a postcard perfect holiday home with plenty of charm. Nestled in the heart of historic lower Staithes, you’ll soon forget the stresses of everyday life here. Whether you’re looking for a couples' getaway or a seaside adventure, this quaint cottage will certainly provide the ideal base for your stay.
The Space:
Although nestled centrally right in the heart of the lower Staithes village the property is quiet and secluded at the same time.
Dotty’s Coastal Retreat is the perfect property for two couples or a family with an older child. A beautifully presented, maisonette packed with character, with a lovely light spacious living room, two double ensuite bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and sea views across the rooftops from the top floor skylights.
The open plan living and dining room is a homely comfortable space with a stone feature fireplace and two large leather sofas and dining table with four chairs. It’s a perfect space to cosy up watching the smart tele, read a good book or to socialise in on an evening and play games with your loved ones.
Head to the newly fitted kitchen and you’ll find a fresh space with white walls and beautiful tiles to give the room a bright and airy feel. Navy shaker style wooden cabinets and smooth white worktops which fit perfectly with the nature of the cottage. Fully equipped for all self-catering staycations, you’ll have access to a double oven, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and dishwasher during your stay.
Also located on the ground floor is a newly fitted boot room with WC and sink.
Take the stairs up to the first floor and you’ll find two double ensuite bedrooms both with french beds. Bold in colour, both bedrooms have coloured walls and sloped ceilings to create really cosy spaces. You’ll enjoy your sleep at Dotty's Coastal Retreat as both double beds feature crisp linens and plush bedding.
Each bedroom has an ensuite with a walk-in shower, WC and wash basin.
The property has never accepted dogs so is perfect for anyone with a pet allergy.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to Dotty’s Coastal Retreat are accessed via a key safe box, and full details will be provided prior to your stay.
A parking permit is provided to allow for free parking in a car park at the top of Staithes Bank. Please note that the permit does not always guarantee a space, however.
Please note that there are stairs leading to the property which may make Dotty’s Coastal Retreat unsuitable for persons with poor mobility and young children. The stairs inside the property are also steep due to the traditional nature of the cottage.
The Neighborhood:
Staithes is the quaint coastal village which was recently named one of Britain’s most beautiful seaside villages. It is a fascinating village with a lot of history, and many say it is like stepping back in time.
It has a beautiful harbour with beach set below the towering cliffs, winding streets, a maze of ginnels and alleyways, and mismatched colourful cottages bursting with charm.
The village is also known for its abundance of fossils which can be found along the small beach and in the cluster of rockpools. This area is nicknamed the ‘Dinosaur Coast’ as it’s packed with history.
Staithes is a magnet for art and artists alike. Throughout the village you’ll find the amazing Painted Illusions Trail created by the famous artist Paul Czainski. It was also the home to the impressionist art society, known as Staithes Group, and their work can always be seen dotted around. Visit the two village art galleries and the free Captain Cook Museum.
