This cosy countryside Cottage is a stunning and sizeable space which boasts fantastic views through the surrounding woodland and Homefarm Courtyard. Briar is an absolute favourite of ours here at the Graythwaite Estate. Its modern finish is absolutely beautiful with soft tones and warmth, of course with its own log burning stove to cuddle up next to on cold nights. The kitchen holds everything that you need with delightful views across into the surrounding forests. Upstairs you will find the master double bedroom and two individual single bedrooms, so there is that added privacy and space for your party. Lastly but certainly not least, outside of the property is an al fresco dining set up to relish in the natural delights of the estate as the sun goes down in the evenings. You are also welcome to use the shared BBQ facilities dotted across the courtyard. The Graythwaite Home Farm Courtyard truly is the beating heart of the Estate – accessed via the iconic and enchanting trail bordered with cheery blossom trees, you are truly entering a very special place. Here, you will be less than a mile from the shores of Lake Windermere where you can enjoy the peace and serenity of the lake without the hustle and bustle, or even book in an action-packed activity with the star-studded Graythwaite Adventure. The Courtyard is within easy reach of our fabulous facilities, such as the communal heated swimming pool which can be booked in advance of your stay and the home farm shop offering locally produced products. You are also able to pre-order groceries and treats from the shop to be ready in your property for you when you arrive! You are also welcome to make use of the communal games room, the communal dining and BBQ facilities dotted across the courtyard and children’s play area, found through the historic and rustic stone walls of the Courtyard leading out through the forest and natural surroundings beyond.

A Short Stay for Wedding
We stayed 3 nights at Briar due to a wedding we were attending at the Silverhome Manor. Customer service from day 1 of enquiring to actually checking in has been exceptional with staff always quick to answer any queries/amendments needed. Upon arrival the Briar was beautiful with a lovely welcome bag (tea, coffee, snack and a beer). Perfect for our little stay with all the essentials and more at hand within property. Only very minor was not having a full length mirror (a personal preference) BUT there is plenty throughout and definitely did not take away from an amazing stay here.

Lovely cottage
Lovely cottage and had everything you could want need, swimming pool was great and perfect for groups of people who also want their own space. Parts of the cottage were a bit tired and could have done with updating, flaking paint in a few rooms etc but apart from that it had everything you needed for a week away

Spot on for a mini break or holiday.
This is our second visit to the Graythwaite estate this time staying in Briar (last time Forge) and we will definitely be visiting again.
The cottage has everything you need for a short stay or a holiday is comfortable and cosy especially with the log burner at night. From our provisional booking to departure we were kept informed by regular emails with information on directions, map of estate and important information needed. The staff went above and beyond to make sure you have all you need for your stay.
We can definitely recommend a stay on the Graythwaite Estate.

Good find
We found this holiday accommodation by chance when looking for a short break. All the information provided prior to arrival was very good and helpful. Contactless arrival with a key safe suits us and appears to be the norm now for holiday lets. The accommodation itself was a 3 bed cottage in the old farm cottages site where there is the swimming pool small games room and small shop. Overall the accommodation was very good it had everything you could need in the kitchen which is rare including provision of washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets handwashing in the bathrooms all very helpful. It all looks very nice and is comfortable. Power showers were fantastic overall very nice property and we would return. There were a couple of maintenance issues which stopped me giving 5 stars, some curtain hooks missing making the great quality curtains hang off and let in light. Couple of drawer handles loose or missing just makes is feel uncared for and tatty. We had a lovely time and would definitely return to the estate, it’s out of the way but there are some good activities on the estate and having the use of a pool we liked.

Great break
Lovely Cottage. Everything we needed for self catering. Location perfect for dogs and getting to Windermere and further afield. Visited Coniston for Ruskin Museum and Bluebird wing, Hilltop for Beatrix Potter house and Grassmere for the Wordsworths. On damp day went to Keswick for Pencil museum which was informative and good fun. The daffodils are glorious.

Briar Cottage review
We loved staying on the estate with our family for a winter break weekend. The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. The swimming pool access was a huge added bonus and everything we needed was taken care of.
Despite the winter discount, the accommodation was still only average for value for money as the condition of the walls and paintwork in the cottage and the pool was poor and the shop was open for only very short hours, which during a two night stay made it challenging to get what we needed, but this did not spoil our stay. If we had paid full price in the holiday periods, we would have been very disappointed with the paintwork issue. Everything else was perfect for what we needed.

Amazing Stay
Used to stay here as a child, last visit over 10 years ago. So nice to be able to come back for a romantic hideaway break. Everything almost exactly the same as I remember. The addition of the little shop is a great idea, and for introverts like us the key boxes and not having to speak to anybody is fantastic! Just what we needed after a hectic few months! We have agreed to make this our yearly autumn get away, see you next year! X
