About this property

Mill Cottage - sleeps 2, dog friendly, peaceful with parking

Mill Cottage: stylish interiors and sumptuous furnishings make this ‘chocolate box’ cottage a truly romantic retreat in a quiet corner of The Lake District. Just two miles from the popular town of Windermere, and only a ‘stagger’ from the award-winning Watermill Inn & Brewing Co, you couldn’t be in a better location!

Once inside this typical Lakeland cottage, you’ll find both charm and character in the exposed wooden beams and stone flagged floors, while the comfortable and contemporary lounge is the perfect place to nestle down after a day on the fells. A well designed kitchen is enclosed – though not separate to the lounge and dining area – and provides many modern day amenities to make your self-catered stay an easy one. From the rear door, you have access to a raised terrace that enjoys an outdoor dining set and countryside views – perfect for your morning coffee or an evening tipple.

Upstairs, you’ll find the master bedroom with king-sized bed, a separate dressing room and the spacious house bathroom. Subtle hues, high-quality linens and tasteful accessories create a romantic atmosphere and make this accommodation the perfect destination for your Lake District escape.

Winter break

Another great week at Mill Cottage. Can't fault it. Ross is a really helpful host who ensures that everything is ready for you on arrival. The cottage is warm and cosy and has everything you could need for a self catering holiday. The weather wasn't kind to us but it didn't stop us getting out and about on the very efficient bus service. The Watermill pub was as good as usual - would recommend the pub quiz on Wednesday night. We will definitely be back.

Lovely stay at Mill cottage

We had a lovely week at Mill Cottage. Everything was clean and we had all the home comforts required. The weather was kind and there's lots of places within driving distance to visit with lots of good hiking. The local pub was cosy and inviting. Overall I'd recommend a stay here.

Great Location

Lovely accommodation and a great location. There was everything you needed in the cottage to make your stay home from home. A peaceful park and very well maintained and looked after. The owner were very helpful. We would also recommend Tarn & Fell Escapes, for your holiday home rental in the Lakes, the commutation was excellent.

Mill cottage

Mill cottage was small but very cosy. It is located in an ideal location if you want to drive to kendal or Keswick. Very close to Windermere. Cottage was reasonably comfy .

Mill Cottage, Ings, Cumbria

The property was ideal in every way, nice quiet location, good views and Will was extremely helpful with any small problem. A tray would have made it easier to carry our drinks outside to the patio as there were quite a few steps, also a torch provided in case of any power cuts.

Enjoyable and comfortable Stay

Mill Cottage is in a lovely quiet location in an accessible spot close to bus stops, a decent pub and a short drive from Windermere. A few problems with utensils were quickly sorted out by the agent who was polite and efficient. Problems with the oven took longer (I was there for 5 weeks) hence a drop of a top mark for condition, but all in all it was a comfortable and enjoyable stay. A lovely sheltered outdoor terrace with plentiful plants and garden birds was also a plus. I'd use Tarn and Fell again for another stay.

Great little cottage in perfect setting

We spent a week at Mill Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed it. Located just outside Windermere in a peaceful location with great walks straight from your doorstep, it’s an ideal location. A short drive, bus ride or walk into Windermere and a great local pub selling good food, it has all you need. The cottage itself was lovely and cosy, very clean and well equipped. We had all we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. We had no need to contact the agent but received a lovely communication from Ross checking all was ok, a lovely personal touch. Would highly recommend Mill Cottage and Tarn and Fell Escapes.

A lovely stay at Mill Cottage

We had a lovely stay at Mill cottage, despite a few rainy days. It was nice and quiet, clean and warm with plentiful hot water and just about everything you could possibly need. We enjoy walking in the fells and it really wasn't too far away to get to places, and only 2 mile from Windermere. In terms of any improvements needed we would say the dining chairs are not that comfortable and perhaps would benefit from seat cushions, and the electric fire works fine but we found it quite noisy so kept it turned off. And a few more more hooks to hang things on would be useful. But thank you, we would recommend Mill cottage to anyone, and would certainly stay again ourselves.

Lovely stay for our first time in the lakes

Clean, comfortable and well located cottage in a pretty and very quiet spot. There were just a few little things which need attention, some of which might not bother other guests! We love our TV in the evenings so an upgrade to a Smart TV would be a great addition. We managed by using the DVD player (batteries need replacing in remote) and buying a few of our favourite films from a charity shop. The shaver point in the bathroom didn't work so our electric toothbrush ran out of power just before the end of the week and the bowls are so small we couldn't fit 2 Weetabix in, but these are tiny things which obviously didn't spoil our stay. My biggest issue as a first timer in the Lakes was the lack of a visitor book (sorry if there was one but I couldn't find it!). I really depend on previous guest's recommendations when staying somewhere new so it was a shame there wasn't one. The pub across the road was great, we went on Wednesday because it's their quiz night, lovely food and really good fun. Overall a lovely cottage in such peaceful surroundings, thank you for a great week.
