Can Brow is the sweetest little haven to make yourself at home in, situated right by the foot of the forests and surrounding walks across the Estate and beyond. Just around the corner from Can Brow is the estate grounds, an open rolling field spanning across the central Estate where you will find peace and silence away from it all. Beyond this, you can find ‘The View’, which is an iconic Estate Walk which is short but still with incredible tabletop views of the Estate and across the surrounding valleys. An incredible spot for a picnic or proposal alike! The Graythwaite Home Farm Courtyard truly is the beating heart of the Estate – accessed via the iconic and enchanting trail bordered with cheery blossom trees, you are truly entering a very special place. Here, you will be less than a mile from the shores of Lake Windermere where you can enjoy the peace and serenity of the lake without the hustle and bustle, or even book in an action-packed activity with the star-studded Graythwaite Adventure. The Courtyard is within easy reach of our fabulous facilities, such as the communal heated swimming pool which can be booked in advance of your stay and the home farm shop offering locally produced products. You are also able to pre-order groceries and treats from the shop to be ready in your property for you when you arrive! You are also welcome to make use of the communal games room, the communal dining and BBQ facilities dotted across the courtyard and children’s play area, found through the historic and rustic stone walls of the Courtyard leading out through the forest and natural surroundings beyond.

Lovely spot for staying near Windermere
Would recommend to a couple wanting time in the lakes. Small quaint cottage with everything you need.

A Short stay
My Wife a I where invited to a wedding held on the Graythwaite Estate. Our time there was short which gave little time to explore the surrounding area. However we made the most of the time we had and i would be happy to recommend the locality to others looking for a quiet rural area with great natural beauty.

Cosy cottage in a lovely spot
Enjoyed our stay in Can Brow. It is very well equipped and surprisingly spacious for a small cottage. We stayed on site with friends and family for wedding at Silverholme Manor (20 - 25 mins walk away). Handy to shared facilities and to have the farm shop on site but watch opening times! Lovely views in all directions.

Very nice little cosy cottage
The cottage was lovely and cosy, stay for 8 nights, very reasonable price. WiFi was a bit hit and miss but they did sort that out, no phone signal but quite nice to switch off from your phone. Used swimming pool, very clean and nice and warm. Nice walks around the estate.would definitely go back.

Wedding Accommodation
I stayed in Can Brow Cottage for a recent Wedding. The Cottage is in a decent Location but the actual Courtyard where it is located is a bit like builders yard.
The cottage itself was clean, modernish and tidy, but the bathroom lacked decent lighting and shelf space around the sink area.
WiFi provided was really good and was definitely needed, No Phone Signal around the Cottage whatsoever.
Overall, I would definitely recommend, it’s located in a beautiful part of the Lake District and fairly priced.

Good location, but a bit tired/dated and needing maintenance
The location is good, but our cottage (Con Brow) had a terrible smell caused by a rug which we had to leave outside. Also, it felt like some maintenance was needed - a leaky tap in the bathroom, the floor boards in the bedroom were collapsed in one place and paint peeling elsewhere. Overall it was ok, but very much ok, and not worth what we paid (£250pn).

Weather helps in the Lakes and it was tropical
In general it was brilliant & the property was superb with everything you could need. Fortunately my wife & me are not Wi Fi nerds which helped as it was dreadful & I think we only had about two days of connection. Should have booked the swimming pool every day as it was very little used. Will contact Graythwaite directly where the lady we booked with was a credit to their organisation over a couple of niggles which i won’t make public on this review.

Can Brow cottage
Lovely little cottage with a great location. The highlight of our trip was having the swimming pool right next to us in the court yard. It was a lovely warm pool on the Tuesday but Thursday's session it was cold and I had to take the baby out of the pool early as she was shivering.
The cottage had everything we needed but the water was very brown therefore we went out and bought bottled water for drinking. Overall, it was very clean, just some staining under the dressing table as if someone had spilt a drink and the door curtain was moldy, it could benefit from a deep clean.
Despite the niggling little problems we overall enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

Overhyped, overpriced “honeymoon suite”
I don’t usually leave reviews, but as you’ve asked repeatedly here’s an honest appraisal.
It was nice of you to leave some coffee and biscuits and the place was clean and the kitchen well equipped. Freddie was friendly, but couldn’t actually tell us which cottage was ours. Nice guy though.
The cottage was damp and smelt a bit of dogs, the windows didn’t open easily and the water in the bath tub was brown.
Given it was self catering and we had to provide our own food, I felt the price poor value for two nights.
The swimming pool was a nice touch and the estate itself is beautiful. We can hardly hold you responsible for the torrential rain!
Why call it the honeymoon suite when it’s just a cottage with a double bed?

Fabulous Stay at Can Brow Cottage
I loved my stay at the Graythwaite Estate (Can Brow Cottage). The cottage was perfectly formed for 2 adults and two dogs. I loved stepping out of the front door straight onto the estate of Graythwaite with my 2 dogs. The walks were amazing and it is breathtakingly quiet everywhere.
The cottage was incredibly well-equipped. It had a brand new washing machine/dryer, full sized dishwasher, and all the other useful kitchen appliances you would enjoy at home.
You are also very close to Ambleside and Windermere and National Trust houses so there is plenty to do just a short drive away. The little shop was also very well stocked although it wasn't open every day probably due to the time of year we stayed.
I do have 2 points that I would like to raise however; 1 is there is no phone signal or WIFI anywhere in the cottage. I had to keep going outside as far as the laundry room (not far) to get any signal and I had to do this because my mum is disabled and I needed to make sure she was ok.
The second point is that because I guess Graythwaite is a typical English estate they breed pheasants for shooting. There were hundreds of baby pheasants (they hadn't even grown their tail feathers) running around everywhere. I know that shooting begins usually in October and runs until end of February. So if hearing/witnessing baby pheasants being used as target practice is not your thing then don't stay at Graythwaite during these months.
Apart from that, I would definitely return.
