Rustic cottage
This unique location in the center of Georgetown Island on a tidal cove is pleasing. The cottage not so much. The charm of the 100+ yr house would be much improved with updating of the very tired furniture, rugs, bedding, linens, appliances and bathrooms, as well as a thorough cleaning. There is good potential for a great stay if this is done.
It is a wonderful property, very comfortable and welcoming. It was perfect for myself, sister and parents. Close to many Maine attractions without being in the middle of them.
Generous pass to Reid park with its sandy beaches which were not overcrowded
Would de stay here again
Great house. Secluded location, with great hike at the sanctuary next door. We were able kayak and watch eagle, right from the property. Reid Island beach was close by and was great fun. Would return again. Thanks!
We had a wonderful week. For half of the week it was just parents and then teens arrived for the second half. There was plenty of space to spread out, which really helped as we had a lot of rain. The kitchen was very well equipped. We would definitely stay there again!
We really appreciated the pass for Reid State Park - we went there one day during the day and most evenings.
This wasn't meant to be a sight-seeing trip as we have seen a lot of the area, but it is very centrally located to visit lots of places in the mid-coast area. We went down to Freeport, fireworks in Bath, and to Boothbay to go to the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden. Locally we went to Reid State Park, ate at Grey Haven Inn and Five Island Lobster, and took a hike out the Squirrel Lighthouse.
The house is old, and in beautiful condition. It has air conditioning units for the hot days, as well as dehumidifiers for those few midsummer days in Maine that require a little comfort assistance. There are numerous comfortable places to sleep, and plenty of privacy in the various sections of the house. It is located near to beaches and to shopping, but the setting is quiet and has its own access road. The kitchen is fully equipped, the dining room has plenty of room for 6 or more (we seated 9 one night), and the family room with a loft has the best couch! There is an outside grill and lawn chairs overlooking RobinHood Cove. The house is even nicer than it sounds in the owner’s description. We were in Georgetown for a family gathering, and if it happens next year, we would not hesitate to book this wonderful house again. Many thanks to Mary Beth for her hospitality!

Foul smelling tap water. Unpalatable.
I gave two stars. This is my honest review. The location was nice. Georgetown is beatiful. My reason for only two stars is because the tap water was undrinkable. It smelled like sewer water and tasted terable. I had to apologize to my guest for the inconvenience.Needless to say showers were quick because of the smell. We had to buy spring water for all our cooking and drinking requirements. Also, when using the dining room for a family dinner, one of the chairs fell apart. A prior repair to a broken armrest did not support body weight. I reported the issue and it turns out that I am being held responsible for the damage even though I did not brake it initially. The owner refused to acknowledge the prior repair. When I reported the water issue, all I got for a responce from the owner was "thanks for your input". I am very disappointed in our stay at this location.
Wonderful location - nice view - quiet and calm. Easy access to Five Islands & Reid State Park - two of my favorite places. Plenty of room so you can be together - but also can get some solitude if you want.
We stayed here before and will return again.
Our stay was in August 2021, and included my family of four with two children, 11 and 7, and my parents. The layout of the home consists of a larger living area when you first walk in, the master bedroom, dining area, kitchen, living room, and two bathrooms. Upstairs, you will find two additional bedrooms. With both bathrooms on the main level, my parents used the master bedroom. Off of the living room, there is a loft with a futon, and my two boys slept there. The space was plenty, allowing everyone to spread out nicely. There is no central air, but several window units which did ok keeping the house at a somewhat comfortable temperature. There is only one tv in the house, which isn't a bad thing, but if we all wanted to watch a movie at night, it was a bit tight on the one couch to be comfortable. The house is older so a bit dusty, spiders, etc., but that's to be expected and wasn't a concern for us. There is a corner in the living room with tons of brochures from all of Maine, which was really nice for helping us make plans daily. This house is only five minutes from Reid State Park and about eight minutes from the main highway which you would use to travel either north or south. The house is located on the water, but with the tide it was most often mucky because it was out. If you have little ones, there isn't too much yard to run around, and the bank is steep to get down to the water. The beds were very comfortable and we essentially had what we needed for the time that we were there. Thank you!
Plenty of space inside, on the deck, and in the yard. Fun to watch the tide changing. Multiple visits to Reid State Park which had gorgeous beaches and excellent facilities. Hikes from the house in the preserve was a convenient adventure daily.
The home was clean and spacious, perfect for a large family vacation. The home was well stocked with everything you might need. Had a great visit.

Great location, house needs improvement
Great location, easy access to Reid State Park and, best of all, walk right over to 115+acres of wooded and bay coastal Audubon and Nature Conservancy land. BUT house was only superficially cleaned - hair around base of toilet, greasy stove top, dirty towels in washer, sand in dryer. Should clearly state in description that bathrooms are only on first floor and that only 1 bedroom is on first floor. House is dark in the day and not cosy at night and no sofas are comfortable for sitting. House smelled awful - floral air "freshener" upon arrival. House is full of dusty fake flowers and ugly decor. That really mattered to me.
The house and property exceeded expectations! The house itself is full of old charm and the setting on the river was absolutely tranquil. The property is well situated, close to Reid State Park with great beaches and also the lobster dock. Chris and Katie were responsive and kind hosts. We would love to come back again.
The home had everything we needed. We wanted beach chairs for our older mothers to use at the beach so I asked Katie where we could rent some. Unfortunately nowhere, but she graciously offer us two to use.
One disappointment was that both bathrooms were on the first floor. We couldn't have our moms going up and down the stairs at night to use the bathroom so they both shared the master on the first floor.
We encountered a lot of spiders and "dust bunnies". All of the window sills were dirty and the corners of every room. The kitchen was clean and well supplied.
The home was peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed watching the tide come in and go out and all the birds. We even saw a large group of wild turkeys a couple times.
Katie was very responsive and helpful. She made renting this home a breeze.
This was our second year in a row staying at the house. We were not planning to come to Maine this summer, but given the craziness of this year and the difficulty/impossibility of traveling outside the country, we were extra grateful that the house was available again. It is so comfortable, and well-located, and Katie is a wonderful manager. Hope to come back!
We have been looking forward to our family get together for a while, and we were not disappointed! Perfect, peaceful place to enjoy each other's company. Everything you need is there. Five Islands are beautiful...good lobster at the dock and ice cream too. Trips to Pemaquid Lighthouse always awesome. Perfect weather too! We are blessed! Owners are great communicaters!
Great access to the beach and the lobster wharf. Short drive to Wiscassett, Damariscotta, and Booth Bay. Nice outside sitting area to overlook the river and very secluded with little noise. Our family from 16-80 had a great time.
We had a peaceful, relaxing week at the house, which was comfortable and cozy (while still having plenty of space). My son loved sleeping in the loft - all the beds were very comfortable - and the adults enjoyed drinking coffee in the sun room. We hope to come back!
We especially enjoyed the outside screened in area which helped protect us from mosquitos and allowed us to view the mudflats. The house was nice and roomy and it was great to have 2 bathrooms. the house was well stocked with just about everything you could need!
Katie quickly responded to all of my contacts.
A couple of suggestions: door by driveway somewhat difficult to open
door off of kitchen needs to be greased-very squeaky
coaster for tables
Also-let people know that sign for house is on tree and that road is a dirt road and by the bridge. I drove by the road because i didn't see the house number sign.
1 or 2 box fans would be useful. I brought my own and my niece used it in the loft.
Enjoyed the location, short drive to the beach and the best lobster ever.
My family enjoyed the cottage slot, great spaces to be together and enough areas to enjoy a good book. My father-in-law was comfortable and several times found him napping in the Chairs outside. My daughter and her husband was happy about the Wi-Fi and the cottage was filled with everything you could need on vacation.
Easy communication with the hosts, house was well kept and well stocked and very comfortable ( well, the queen bed did sag a bit in the middle), well insulated rooms- we never heard each other traipsing up and down during the night. The mosquito tent saved the day and allowed us to enjoy time outside - but it is woodsy and on the river, so expect mosquitoes in abundance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. And the lobster dinners were amazing!
We are really enjoyed our trip. The supplies provided (linens, paper goods, kitchen ware, and park pass) were really appreciated. The house is very clean and the furnishings are comfortable. The views are wonderful and we even saw a couple deer while drinking our morning coffee.

Peacful Tranquility
Thank you for a wonderful well stocked house. The home was very clean throughout. Even the grounds and flower beds were well maintained. We had clean and nice quality linings as well.
We were impressed with the selection of children's games that were provided. The children really enjoyed them during the quite evenings after a long day of site seeing and vacationing adventures.
We would love to revisit this home again.
The only recommendation I can suggest make for this lovely Maine home, would be a window air conditioner in the family room and a couple outside bug lights to help keep the mosquitos at bay.

Beautiful place!
Stayed here with 7 friends for a wedding recently. The house had more than enough space for all of us to enjoy eating and relaxing together. Great view overlooking the water from the front deck, and in a convenient location close to everything in Georgetown.

About the host
Hosted by Mary Beth Green
I am a retired guidance counselor who enjoys traveling. My husband and I decided to keep this house after my husband retired from the Navy because we loved the quiet, beautiful costal area of Georgetown and the friendly community.
Why they chose this property
We love this neighborhood because of the relaxing views, listening to the birds and the gentle movement of the tidal waters in the cove to the front of the house.
What makes this property unique
This property is unique in its layout. It provides three different major conversation areas if you have different age groups to entertain: living room, den, and sunroom. Also a larger family can have separation from adult bedrooms and a children sleeping area.
