About this property
Blackwood, Hornsea, Yorkshire Coast
Located just a stroll away from the town centre of Hornsea and 5 minutes from the beach, Blackwood sits in the grounds of the owners' home, Ristonville, once home to Hornsea Pottery designer - John Clappison. Renovated in 2023 this modern detached hideaway provides a warm welcome to cyclists or couples wishing to escape for a long weekend and explore the delights of the Yorkshire coastline.
This cosy bolthole, with a light and airy open-plan living area on the ground floor and delightful master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe on the first floor, offers a place you can call home whilst spending days discovering the surrounding area. Boasting cycle routes such as the Trans Pennine Trail not far from the door step, coastal roads and towns perfect for a scenic drive and of course be sure to walk down to Hornsea's beach promenade for the sunrise, a memorable sight well worth getting out of bed for!
The dining area has direct access from the front door to the south-facing private patio area featuring an egg swing chair and further relaxed seating for two, the perfect space for enjoying alfresco dining on a balmy summer's night. Whether you are looking for a base from which to explore the nearby east coast, or a retreat in which to unwind and recharge those batteries, Blackwood will ensure its guests have a memorable stay.
Hornsea itself truly does have something for everyone. High on the list has to be Hornsea Mere, Yorkshire's largest freshwater lake from where you can hire a rowing boat to go fishing or birdwatching or just take in the views. The town is well served by a host of independent shops and has plenty of places to eat and drink - from cosy tea rooms to pubs, bars and restaurants. It retains much of its old charm as a historic seaside destination, enhanced by the modern amenities which you would expect.
