About this property
Chateau Trieux, a 16th century chateau set in 3.5 hectares of private grounds.
A beautiful and traditional château set in 3.5 hectares and surrounded by farmland. A heavenly rural retreat in which to step back in time. The property is a real family home offering a high standard of accommodation fully renovated, with many high end interiors, original features and all modern conveniences.
A long and impressive private driveway leads up the château with its dual towered front . A courtyard with formal gardens and surrounding, extensive lawns. Entering through the front door to a grand stone staircase.
To the right of the hallway is a grand family living room with ample seating, drop down cinema screen and an original archway leading to a games room with pool table housed in what was once the chapel.
To the left of the hallway you enter the library with comfortable seating, original fireplace and a wide selection of books. Following on from the library is the dining room. The dining room comfortably sits 12. Original painted wall panels over the doors and an original open fireplace all make for a wonderful room to host formal dinners.
The kitchen houses a range style oven, fridge and is well stocked for equipment. Coffee machine, ice machine for the hot summers, kettle and toaster. There is a kitchen island with seating for 3, perfect for informal breakfasts or company whilst cooking. A separate utility room houses an additional freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer and a downstairs shower room completes the lower floor. The library and dining room are dual aspect with double doors leading out to the rear terrace/swimming pool.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master suite is the perfect place to retreat to with views over both the courtyard and grounds to the front and swimming pool to the rear. The following two bedrooms (one double, one with twin beds) both have a vanity unit/sink in the room. Going up one more floor in the tower takes you to the another double bedroom with its own ensuite bathroom and small galleried floor to sit and relax.
To the rear of the chateau is a beautiful terrace and garden area with outside dining and seating area and a heated private pool 11m x 5m with sun terrace and loungers. The terrace overlooks the rear gardens, grounds and the river Lede. There is also space to dine and relax at the front of the Chateau.
The chateau also has a private tennis court and large Petanque (boules) court with garden pergola with conservatory-style furniture.
There are extensive grounds to explore and relax in featuring woodland, a pond and river frontage.
The nearest village with restaurant is a 5 minutes drive.
In addition the famous bastide village of Monflanquin, voted one of the most beautiful villages in France, is just a10 minute drive away. Here a weekly night market is held throughout the summer with fantastic local produce and live music. The mediaeval village is full of winding streets with the most fabulous views far reaching views. Amenities in and around the village include large supermarket, cafés, restaurants, bakeries.
The chateau is a wonderful base from which to explore many such villages that offer antique fairs, farmers markets, night markets (throughout the summer) and artisan produce.
