About this property
Place of Santiago Rural House
Lugar de Santiago gives its name to the farm where this beautiful Rural House is located, classified by the D. Turismo de Castilla La Mancha, obtaining the category of 4 **** GREEN STARS,
Just 45 minutes from the capital, and barely 300m from the natural border that marks the Jarama River with the province of Madrid, already in Guadalajara, stands Uceda, this magnificent watchtower between the mountains of Madrid and the fields of La Campiña.
The 8000 m2 property houses a 400 m2 home, in which light and views dominate each room.As accommodation, the house is offered as a COMPLETE RENTAL with 4 double bedrooms, 1 of them with a large viewpoint towards the mountains, all large with the possibility of placing an extra bed in each one, 1 games room, 3 full bathrooms, a toilet, a large living room with fireplace and double height ceiling with interior corral, an original hall with a cantilevered staircase and its 6 m high interior garden and a magnificent fully equipped and modern kitchen.
And if what you want is to telework or be connected, we have 600mb WIFI
On the south side, at the foot of the living room we find a grass meadow with spaces set up to gather around the wood-burning barbecue or the gas griddle. On the other side is the space where the garden is located in season.
More than 120 fruit and ornamental trees of more than 50 different species accompany us on a walk around the house, until we find the small labyrinth and its beautiful corners.
One of the peculiarities of the home is that it is inside and outside the urban area at the same time. Due to its proximity we have all the necessary services within a 2-minute walk (shops, bars, pharmacy, Town Hall, tourist office, church, buses...) and on the other hand, being in the border area, the property is practically isolated in its totality, so it is calm and silent, practically as if we were in the middle of the field.
Due to the strong environmental commitment of its owners, the house has magnificent insulation, use of solar energy through photovoltaic panels that generate electricity and thermal panels that provide hot water to the heating systems. As for these systems, they are mixed, combining diesel, pellets or firewood depending on areas and needs.
We also recycle rainwater for irrigation, all irrigation is drip.
The elimination is mostly LEDs and energy-efficient appliances.
In summer on the upper floor, given its greater solar incidence, there is air conditioning. In the lower part, the studied orientation and the use of underfloor heating ensure that it is kept cool in a natural way, however there are fans in case someone requires it.
With all this, the awareness and rational use of doors, blinds and closing of non-inhabited areas remains essential for maximum use.
Attesting to its history, in one of its corners stands a tower of what was the wall of the ancient Villa de Uceda, today buried under our feet. The remains of the old wall make up the perimeter of the farm and on one of its sides the old Church of Santiago would once be located, now missing and one of the oldest in Uceda, which gives its name to our farm.Just before entering the plot we find, very close to the door, a milestone of the Camino de Santiago, in its section called Camino Mendocino.
Under the house are the fixed remains found in the archaeological study carried out for the construction works, the rest are kept in the Guadalajara museum. In the living room you can see part of these remains of the medieval city through a small glass area.
Various studies are currently being carried out in the area, mainly at the site of the castle, where Arab remains have been found, prior to medieval times.
