About this property
Huge Chic Chalet for Skiing & Summer Fun, Morzine & Avoriaz
After a fabulous day’s skiing in Avoriaz or Morzine, just a beautiful 20 minute drive via an excellent supermarket brings you home to bags of space to play, cook, dance, watch the stars or flop in front of a film together. The log fire and underfloor heating mean you’re cosy and your kit is dry and the oodles of space mean you can be yourselves. Kids can muck about while adults enjoy the views, super showers and coffee-making kit in this lovingly restored historic house.
The space
Entering the gorgeous old house, with the mazot behind you, you come into the boot room. With underfloor heating and lots of hanging space, there is plenty of room to dry wet kit from the day's activities, plus a boot dryer and benches for sorting your feet out - we're skiers and know what's needed! Turn left for the games room with full size pool table and dart board - perfect to keep the children- and adults- entertained! The utility room (with washer and dryer) and additional toilet are down here too.
Up the stairs to the main floor with open plan kitchen, dining and living area, double doors onto the terrace, and 2 more onto the balcony - the light here in the afternoon and evening is incredible - so many places in this area get very little light as the valley is so steep - we are very lucky to have the sun pouring in from midday till it sets behind the dramatic peak of Mont Billiat to the west. There is a dining table that will sit 12, and a well equipped kitchen set up to cater for the same. 5 burner hob, grill, double oven, fondue sets, toasted sandwich maker and numerous coffee making options are all at your disposal. There is underfloor heating here too to take the edge off, but almost all the warmth for the house comes from the massive wood-burning stove that forms the centrepiece of the house. There are separate seating areas for reading, chatting and watching TV, as well as hanging out round the kitchen table with a glass of something nice while someone else is cooking.
Tucked away on this floor is one of the bedrooms, with king size bed, large en-suite shower room and double doors onto the terrace - wake up to westerly views over the to the other side of the valley. Superb quality curtains in every room keep things cosy. On this floor there is also a small snug with TV, a DVD player and a huge selection of films, and a double sofa bed.
Up the stairs again to the mezzanine you will find the other 2 bedrooms that can sleep 4 people each. Both have king size beds, one has twin beds and the other a bunk bed. There is another lovely shower room here too. From here you get an amazing view through the beams onto the living area below. This is an excellent drying area too and very cosy in the bedrooms - all the warmth from the fire comes up to keep things toasty.
Throughout the house, we have struck a balance between preserving beautiful original features, decorating with antiques and vintage pieces, and providing all mod cons, with a high standard of finish and furnishings.
Fully equipped for kids with plenty of toys, games and DVDs, as well as kids' cutlery, plates, bowls, etc. There’s a highchair, travel cot and stairgates, on request, too. And plenty of hide and seek potential.
High-quality kitchen equipment and luxurious towels and bedding are all part of the experience.
We love hosting here and are sure you will find the space perfect for multi- family skiing holidays or get-togethers with pals.

About the host
Hosted by James Barr

Hello - thank you for checking out our lovely home in the mountains!
We live in the UK normally, but try to spend as much time in the mountains and in nature as possible.

Why they chose this property
It's just beautiful!!!
The area has SO much going on in both the summer and the winter, but the remoteness and tranquillity of the village is hard to imagine given Morzine and Avoriaz are on the doorstep.

What makes this property unique
I'm not sure you will find a more stunning spot, in amongst nature, but with so much to do nearby anywhere in the Alps. And certainly not for the price!
