About this property
Owleycombe at River Meadow Retreat, Luxury escape in Devon River Valley
Feel rejuvenated after a stay in this rustic gem. This enchanting retreat has been lovingly handcrafted by the owners. Tucked away in rural Devon, the perfect hideaway for a cosy, romantic escape. Take a short walk along the meandering river to the local pub or bistro cafe. Alternatively, if you fancy a day trip you will find Devon's north
& south coasts, Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Blackdown Hills all within an hours drive. Peaceful and quiet with beautiful views and easy access to road networks.
The space
Beautifully rustic, unique and charming- This cosy retreat will create a lasting impression.
The main part of the hut boasts underfloor heating and a log burner to keep you toasty warm.
An induction hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and Belfast sink can be found in the kitchenette, along with all the basic equipment you need to cook and serve a tasty meal.
There is a comfortable sofa opposite the kitchen area looking out over the decking and across the field.
The luxury king size bed is made up with freshly laundered egyptian cotton bed linen, four pillows and a bolster cushion.
There is a separate adjoining room where you can hang coats and boots, and ample space for a dogs bed and bowls. Leading off here is the bathroom with electric shower, loo and basin.
Outside the double doors you will find a large sun decking with beautiful views, gas fired BBQ, table and chairs, recycling store and boot rack. The firepit is located on the grassy area below the decking.
Located on a smallholding at the very end of a country lane, the cabin is situated at the end of a field surrounded by a small copse of young trees and is enclosed in a fully fenced secure area.
The Culm Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are many local walks and beauty spots to explore in the surrounding area. There are no neighbours to the hut, and you will find it is a great place to enjoy the dark night sky.
Guest access
There is a dedicated parking space for Owleycombe located a short way up a private driveway. There is then a short walk from the car park to the hut. Please note the driveway is located at the very end of a rural country lane which is slightly rough for the last 200 metres. If you have a low car or would prefer not to drive the last part of the lane, do let us know, and we will be happy to provide an alternative parking spot on the farm.
Please let us know If you will be arriving after dark, and we will leave the cabin lights on to make it easier for you to access.
Other things to note
It is advisable to bring wellington boots during wet times of year, which may be stored on the boot rack, situated on the decking by the back door. You may also like to bring a torch.
Please note we politely request that dogs are not permitted on the bed or sofa. There is space in the boot room for your dog's bed and we kindly ask that muddy dogs are kept here until dry, to maintain high standards throughout the hut for all guests.
There are a variety of livestock in the fields surrounding Owleycombe. It is essential that dogs are kept under close control at all times, and that you clean up after your dog appropriately.
We regret to say that Owleycombe is not suitable for people with impaired mobility. However, we hope to develop accessible accomodation on the farm in the near future.
