Nice Apartment in a devastated area
I was looking forward to staying in this Vrbo because I once lived in an another apartment in the same building, 15 years ago. So, I’m familiar with the neighborhood and enjoyed living there, once.
However, I did have the following problems with this booking:
1. It is not a direct booking. You are obliged to pay separately from Vrbo, which feels awkward and essentially inappropriate…. At least inconvenient, and perhaps a violation of policy.
2. There are homeless encampments surrounding the property on all sides, which makes it very unpleasant to walk in any direction. It feels dirty and unsafe. This really greatly reduces the attractiveness of this listing.
3. Related to the above, the neighborhood is full of an excessive amount of rubbish, which blows around in the wind. This, combined with the shouting and other noise from the homeless, makes for a very distracting and unpleasant nights sleeping in this apartment.
All in all, the owners have done nice things with the flat itself (although the space is too dark, too much furniture and too little lighting) but this is all overshadowed by the unpleasantness of the surroundings.
