About this property

Dorothea Cottage Snowdonia, with mountain views.

Dorothea Cottage offers Victorian features, modern styling, a cosy, log-burning stove, and stunning mountain views.

Nantlle village is located inside Eryri National Park with Snowdon Basecamp at Rhyd Ddu being just 5 MILES away!! Awarded UNESCO World Heritage status for its dramatic slate landscapes, Nantlle is a winning destination for walkers, cyclists, divers, sight seers, and anyone with a love of the great outdoors. We are dog friendly and welcome one small/ medium-sized breed FOC.
The space
The cottage has been created as a super comfortable base for exploring Snowdonia.

Located next to the historic Dorothea Quarry and Lakes, there are walks literally on your doorstep into Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. Snowdon Base Camp at Rhyd Ddu is just 5.3 miles, making it the perfect location for those wanting to explore the iconic mountain. There are walking and cycling routes starting from the cottage, with swimming and diving in the Nantlle and Dorothea lakes.

The cottage sleeps up to 3 adults or a family of 4 people (children 4-yrs +) and a trained, small to medium-sized dog. We have renovated and equipped the cottage to a very high standard, with super-efficient heating and a log burner to make nights in during the cold winter season a treat, plus super fast broadband to keep you connected (if you wish).

It has a large comfortable lounge with tons of period features, including a huge stone inglenook fireplace with a log burner. We have included an HD Smart TV with blue tooth speaker ability and access to Netflix, Amazon Movies and apps for BBC, ITV, CH4 and CH5.

Adjacent to the living room is the big bright kitchen/dining/utility area, leading onto the rear gardens and the shower room. This space is equipped with all you need to cook and dine in style.

The luxury shower room is also on the ground floor with a large Hans Grohe rain shower and stylish modern bathroom suite.

On the first floor, we have a big master bedroom including a king-size oak bed, plus a super comfy twin room with adult-sized bunk beds, which have proved to be the favourite sleeping spot of our guests.

We have outside spaces front and back, with a lovely landscaped and tiered back garden with views over the cottage towards the Nantlle Ridge. The rear garden also has direct access to walks, including the Snowdonia National Parks Slate Trail and Pilgrims Way.
Guest access
The whole property is at your disposal during your stay.
Other things to note
Please note: We give guests the option of bringing bed linen to keep our cleaning fees to a minimum. Linens can be supplied on request at an additional fee of £12 /room to cover laundry charges.

All beds are fitted with mattress toppers and we provide duvets/pillows with pillow protectors as standard.

We provide hand towels, but guests need to bring bath towels. Shampoo, shower gel, soap, and loo roll are also provided, and there are extra cleaning supplies so you can clean as you stay.

The kitchen is stocked with basics including, tea, coffee, sugar, milk straws, salt & pepper, and olive oil. In addition, we supply t-towels, kitchen roll, and laundry products.

Local shops are accessible within a 5-minute drive. There is a Co-op Local in Penygroes, and the usual supermarket chains (Morrisons/Tesco) in Caernarfon. We even have North Wales' only Waitrose 25 minutes away at Menai.

If you are a coffee lover, the artisan Poblado Coffee Roasters are located a few steps from our front door. Sample the best coffee in Wales, during the week. They seriously do one of the greatest flat whites ever!
