About this property

Newer cabin located on semi-private road. It has 3 bedrooms (2 with queen size beds and one with a twin-over-full bunk bed). It also has a full euro style sleeper futon in the living area. Easily sleeps 8 people assuming couples use the 2 queen\2 full beds. Two full bathrooms with towels and hairdryers.

Equipped kitchen with eat in dining area (seats 8). Appliances include refrigerator (with ice maker), stove, dishwasher, toaster, microwave, garbage disposal, Keurig coffee maker, pots\pans and utensils. Large 50" LED TV in living space with Roku and internet (Wi-Fi). Washer\Dryer, iron, and ironing board. Full length upper deck and lower patio with gas grill.

Cabin sits on ~1 acre water front lot with a beach and boat dock. There is plenty of parking space. For an additional cost there is also a camper space outfitted with water/electrical. No sewer hookup however.

We are Centrally located and near the I24/I57 junction (~3 miles from x45 on I-57). In addition to sitting lake front on the Lake of Egypt, local attractions are the Shawnee National Forest, Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge, Shawnee Hills Wine trail (11 vineyards), Walkers Bluff vineyard and event center, Southern Illinois University, John A Logan College. Besides the Lake of Egypt this property is also near Rend, Crab Orchard, Little Grassy and Devils Kitchen Lakes. Local state parks are Ferne Clyffe, Giant City and Garden of the Gods. Casinos in Metropolis and Cape Girardeau are approximately 1 hour away as is Paducah, KY with it's thriving arts community.

Comfortable home away from home

We enjoyed our stay at this very quiet and peaceful home. The weather was not cooperative, but we were still able to view different wildlife from the deck and the peacefulness of the water. The bed was comfortable and enjoyed the many different channels provided to us on the TVs. The kitchen was more than adequate. We also appreciated that we did not have to go up or down steps to get our "stuff" in from the car. We will be flagging this home in case we travel to the Lake Egypt area again. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Great family option

Great location near many parks like Garden of the Gods, Giant City, Little Grand Canyon and many others. Enjoyed breakfast on the balcony watching the lake and ending the day paddle boarding or kayaking. Great setup for our group. Two bedrooms upstairs (queen bed in ea) with a nice kitchen and dinning room. Downstairs had a bedroom with a bunk bed along with a family room. Kids had their own kid cave down there :). Very nice time.

Beautiful place

The cabin was very clean, with an inviting atmosphere both inside and out. My wife and I stayed there while also visiting her mother in Marion, and some friends were able to visit us at the cabin as well, with lots of comfortable seating.

Lake Weekend

Had an enjoyable and fun summer weekend with our Godson and his family. We had everything we needed and Scott was very gracious. He replied immediately when we had questions. We were grateful for the dock, the kids loved the little beach and we made use of one of their lilly pads-very thankful for that! The hill to the water was a bit steep, but we had no issues with that! Enjoyable weekend!

Nice place with a great beach

House was generally clean and comfortable, and the beach was awesome! The kitchen appliances were great, but multiple dishes were dirty and the place was lacking in some basics that are typically provided at other similar properties (i.e. cooking spices, foil, paper products, etc). We had an issue with the garbage disposal, but Scott was able to have someone come to fix it super quickly. Overall, we’d recommend it, but be prepared to bring some extra supplies!

AWESOME RARE WALK IN BEACH ON LAKE OF EGYPT

We had a wonderful time. The beds are comfortable, the house is super clean, kitchen and bathrooms are really nice. The outside decks are great. The real highlight though was the beach, as a walk in beach was hard to find on lake of Egypt. Scott was super helpful and was able to help us get in there when we were leaving a less suitable accommodation on the lake. I’m so glad we discovered this hidden gem!

Girl’s Trip

We take a girl’s trip every year. The river wasn’t safe for us this year and we quickly switched gears and found this beautiful Cabin. The cabin had everything we needed and wanted! There was plenty of room for us all! Tons of game options. We loved the outdoor seating and the fact that the downstairs seating had fans. It was a beautiful view! The private dock was perfect for one of our girls that had a personal boat that we docked there all weekend! The beach accessory choices were fabulous. All in all we all love it and might have to two girls trips a year now! One to the river and one here! The boat owner was also very quick to communicate. 10/10 Rating

Great cabin!!

This property is awesome and just as advertised. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything needed to cook while there. Our teen girls loved the lily pad and kayaks. If you are looking to rent a pontoon boat, I highly recommend Weiner Rides. Jamie delivered the boat to our dock in the morning and picked it up that evening - super convenient and easy! There is also a pretty well stocked Dollar General Market close by with produce, frozen foods, etc. I definitely recommend this cabin!

It was a wonderful vacation. The house was clean and everything was there that we could need. We had kayaks, a paddle boat , there are lawn chairs, a fire pit. It was great! A wonderful way to relax. Thank you so much!

Beautiful Property

Very happy with property. Beautiful setting, water view and lots of trees. My daughter loved beach. I loved wildlife. Cabin was very clean and decorated nicely. Close to town to go eat at restaurants. We also visited a winery. The only thing I would suggest is to maybe put cushions for outdoor furniture in storage when not in use. The cushions on downstairs patio were covered in what we think was pollen or dirt and upstairs had one cushion with hole eaten in it probably by squirrels(saw droppings). We had a lovely stay and would love to come back someday.

Great place w 2 exceptions

This is a lovely cabin and our kids enjoyed it. Very clean and central location and fun to have boats. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is that its located 1 mile from an active power plant. Fortunately you can't see it from the property, but you do drive past it and its on the same lake as the cabin. Also of note, it's taken several weeks to get our security deposit back, despite no damages. I believe that is a VBRO issue, but am not sure.

Fantastic location, can't beat the lake!

This was the perfect launching spot for adventures in Giant City State Park, Millstone Bluffs, Garden of the Gods and Fern Clyffe. So many more places we wished we could have seen! Close to great coffee (Crown Brew) and bakery (Grandma Puckett's), kitchen was fully equipped for making meals and picnics. Loved the grill on the back patio. The crown jewel of this property is the small beach in the back, after a day of hiking coming home to throw something on the grill while the kids play in the sand was just next level wonderful. The lake was very peaceful and nice calm water when we visited (not much boat traffic) so the older kids and I even got to enjoy the kayaks.

Wonderful Getaway!

We loved everything about this property! So much nicer even than the photos! I will remember my son kayaking for the first time, paddle-boating, playing cards on the porch, swimming, watching the kids play on the beach, making s’mores in the firepit, reading on the beach and porch, and enjoying the time with my family and friends here! Loved going to Garden of the Gods while we were here too and seeing Sassy the Sasquatch. An amazing trip! Thank you!

Mary Ann and I retired a few years ago and are now more about enjoying our life and especially our 5 grandbabies.

Why they chose this property

This property has been in my family since 1901. Before there was a lake it was my great Grandfathers farm. The surrounding property and across the lake were a part of the 85 acre property. In 1963-ish, as the lake was being created the farm was parceled out were each of the Adams children received a lot (hence Adams Acres) and the property beneath the lake and across was sold. The cabin is located on my Uncle Denny's lot that briefly was owned outside of the family. We were able to purchase it and build the cabin in exactly the same spot and footprint of his original cabin.

What makes this property unique

The cabin at Adams Acres offers close proximity to the local highways (Interstates 24 & 57 and Illinois routes 37 & 148) are a few minutes away. The home is newer (built in 2016) with the express purpose of being a short stay cabin for people visiting Southern Illinois...including my family. We did our best to insure the place includes the creature comforts of a home with the solitude and privacy of a lakeside cabin. There is a dock, private beach (shared with our home next door), kayaks and peddle boat for recreation. There is also a fire pit and tiki torches down by the water for night time fun.
