About this property
Character cottage with private pool set in 5 hectares of gardens and woodland
***NEW LISTING***
Part of a former wine producing farm built over 300 years ago, Le Petit Chaudenas features a beautiful, large swimming pool and is set in over 5 Hectares of private garden and woodlands.
Located in the tiny hamlet of Toury in the Mâconnais region with its famous Appellations Villages: Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, Viré-Clessé, the area is ideal for wine tasting as well as being only 10 mins drive from Cormatin, the community of Taizé and the historical town of Cluny.
Entering Le Petit Chaudenas, guests are greeted by a beautiful and spacious modern kitchen set amongst oak beams and stone walls. Off to the right, a large living room features a Sofa bed, a Dining Table for 6 as well as log burner and reading corner. Patio Doors lead back out on to the gardens with views over the pond and woodland beyond. An ancient bread oven set in the far wall is a reminder of the building's past life.
A small WC under the stairs completes the Ground Floor.
Upstairs a landing leads to two bedrooms. To the right a Twin Bedroom features 2 comfy single beds and also benefits from it's own ensuite with WC and Shower.
Straight on from the landing, is a beautiful Master Bedroom with King Size Bed set amongst the original beams of the roof. The Master Bedroom also has it's own ensuite with WC and Bath with overhead shower.
Outside, in the shade of a tree, there is a decking area with a large dining table.
From here, steps lead down to the large pool with ample terrace space for chilling out on the sun loungers or sheltering from the sun on the sofas under the bamboo roofed Gazebo. To the rear of the pool, further steps lead down to the pond.
Stretching away from the Dining area is the main mowed area of garden, with the beautiful pond to the side fed by a stream coming off the hills beyond. Continuing into the distance, the property sits in 5 hectares of fields and woodland, perfect for a stroll or spotting some of the wildlife that occasionally visit.
Behind Le Petit Chaudenas, the owners discovered an old abandoned tennis court overgrown with trees. Now cleared, it's the perfect spot for a game of football, badminton or volleyball.
The hamlet of Toury is in the commune of Bray and there are many hiking and cycling trails nearby. The Voie Verte; a fully tarmacked cycle path stretching from Chalon to Macon can be accessed at Massily, just 3km away from Le Petit Chaudenas. For those wishing to take it slow, there are excellent markets in nearby St Gengoux, Cluny and Tournus and a wealth of exceptional restaurants, vineyards and chateaux to visit. The more energetic can also enjoy rock climbing at Culles les Roches, lake swimming, kayaking or golf at the excellent Golf Macon La Salle.
Access to Le Petit Chaudenas is via the magnificent, wisteria clad gate at the front of the property. During stays, the large house (Le Grand Chaudenas) will remain unoccupied so guests at Le Petit Chaudenas will have exclusive use of the entire grounds and pool as well as full use of the front of the house to park on the driveway and make use of the car port or play some Ping Pong.
Other things to note
Guests must be aware that the property is set in 5 hectares of land and contains both a swimming pool and a pond. Children are accepted at the Property under the strict and sole responsibility of the Client and should be supervised at all times.
The pool is available from May until the end of September and is heated by a bubble cover. In the summer months this is normally sufficient but if guests choose, the pool can also be heated by a heat pump for an extra cost. Simply let us know a week before arrival if you wish to pay for the additional heating.
The Property is supplied with all linen and towels free of charge.
