Didn't get the room we thought we booked, but the resort was good enough!
I'm a bit torn on this review. We stayed here about 5 years ago, and it was a diamond in the rough! Unfortunately, Management is now focused on the "members/owners' and do not want to be bothered by guests anymore. And their overall attention to the small details have disappeared. There was not one meal or activity where something was not forgotten or correct. The food has deteriorated considerably since the head chef Oscar left the resort (I even got sick on the Cesar salad). It's unfortunate because the staff are truly genuine and try their best.
Unfortunately, there was a problem with the room we were given. I assumed we were getting the room pictured on the VRBO listing, but instead got adjoining Jr. Suites with no living room! The owner communicated that we were getting a Family Suite, and on the website it shows that it has a living room attached. However, when we got our rooms, the owner mentioned that the "Family Suite" for "owners" is not the same as what was on the website. A bit disappointing, but we couldn't let it ruin our vacation.
With that said, the owner was sincere in his apology and compensated us a small amount for the miscommunication. He said he'd try to get us more if the resort credited him, but i'm not sure that will be coming our way.
If you do book this VRBO, just be clear with the owner of what room you'll be getting and all should be fine.
