About this property
Stunning Gite, pool + wine tasting room. Beautiful views down the Seugne valley
Gite - Vin Rouge 3*
The Gite is the converted walnut drying barn and dates back at least 150 years.
A large, impressive space for social living, ideal for families; enclosed garden with its pool (shared) offers a safe space for children to play, with deicated children's area in the garden.
There are two other gites on site but all have private terraces offering views across the valley with fields of sunflowers and vines. The owners live on site, in a separate residence, and are always on hand to help.
Licensed - able to offer wine tastings
3* classified 2021
The space
With beautiful sweeping views down the River Seugne valley, across vineyards and sunflowers. Surrounded by nature, the tranquil site gives fantastic opportunities to see animals, birds and flowers by day and dark, starry skies at night. (Even better over a glass of wine).
The gite is approximately 132 m2 and a large open plan downstairs with its full height ceiling makes for a fantastic space for families. Complete with a feature log burner for winter nights. There is a mezzanine area, great for slightly older children with a small snooker table.
Centrally located with Bordeaux easily accessible in 1 hour by car (or train). The Gironde estuary, with its nature reserves and pretty fishing villages just 30 minutes away. The local town in Montendre a 15 minute drive has a large and authentic French market every Thursday, and fantastic night markets each Tuesday through the season.
Blaye with its UNESCO heritage citadel and ferry to the Medoc chateau, the heart of the left-bank wines is within easy reach and Saint Emillion, the heart of right-bank wines is just as accessible.
Perfect for families, wine lovers or just those looking to relax by the pool in the sun.
Guest access
There are three gites on site - each have their own private terraces.
Guests are free to enjoy all the grounds and pool - even feed the chickens.
Other things to note
Wine (and Cognac) is a massive aspect of the local area. For stays of 7 days or more we can offer a complementary tasting of a few local wines on request to give you an overview of what qualities make the Bordeaux area so special. We also have links with several vineyards in the area that we can set up bespoke visits and tastings with.
We are also licensed and able to offer a selection of our favorite wines by the glass and by the bottle for you to enjoy in the sun.
Part of the attraction with our gite is its beautiful countryside setting, however, in this rural location, this means that a car is a necessity to get around.
