About this property
Romantic Gite-pool, hottub+sauna, wine tasting. Views down the Seugne valley
Cocooned by tall bamboo plants to the east, screening the main grounds to give privacy. From the terrace are southerly views over the surrounding countryside, with its fields of sunflowers and vines, down the valley of the river Seugne.
Originally used as a stables and later to store walnuts, the 3 buildings on-site have been converted to provide secluded and comfortable living accommodation.
With its own private jacuzzi and sauna it provides the perfect romantic getaway throughout the year.
The space
Does life get much better than sitting in the jacuzzi with a bottle of local Cremant de Bordeaux, with beautiful views a kilometre or more down the Seugne valley?
A perfect romantic getaway for any time of the year.
With beautiful sweeping views down the River Seugne valley, across vineyards and sunflowers. Surrounded by nature, the tranquil site gives fantastic opportunities to see animals, birds and flowers by day and dark, starry skies at night. (Even better over a glass of wine).
A split level building with an open plan bedroom and relaxing lounge, together with an open plan dining area and kitchen.
Centrally located with Bordeaux easily accessible in 1 hour by car (or train). The Gironde estuary, with its nature reserves and pretty fishing villages just 30 minutes away. The local town in Montendre a 15 minute drive has a large and authentic French market every Thursday, and fantastic night markets each Tuesday through the season.
Blaye with its UNESCO heritage citadel and ferry to the Medoc chateau, the heart of the left-bank wines is within easy reach and Saint Emillion, the heart of right-bank wines is just as accessible.
Perfect for families, wine lovers or just those looking to relax by the pool in the sun.
Guest access
There are three gites on site - each have their own private terraces. Guests are free to enjoy all the grounds and pool - even feed the chickens.
The jacuzzi and sauna are both exclusive to this gite.
About Us
We live on site but in separated accommodation. We know that it is our guests holiday, and if needed we can give them advice on the local area but if it isn't required are more than happy to leave them to enjoy themselves, untroubled.
Since we are undertaking our WSET wine diplomas and have our wine tasting room on-site, we are happy to share our passion and knowledge of wine.
Other things to note
Wine (and Cognac) is a massive aspect of the local area. For stays of 7 days or more we can offer a complementary tasting of a few local wines on request to give you an overview of what qualities make the Bordeaux area so special. We also have links with several vineyards in the area that we can set up bespoke visits and tastings with.
We are also licensed and able to offer a selection of our favorite wines by the glass and by the bottle for you to enjoy in the sun and even buy some to take back home with you.
Part of the attraction with our gite is its beautiful countryside setting, however, in this rural location, this means that a car is a necessity to get around.
