Christmas Vacation

We had a very nice Christmas Vacation with the whole family. There was plenty of room for the 11 of of us. We enjoyed the games available, the beautiful decorations (thank you Becca) and the wildlife. Along with the resident peacocks we were visited by wild boar, turkey, and a pair of mountain goats. We would definitely go back. Things are a little dated but that is part of the charm. My grandchildren thought the place had to be haunted because, “if it’s old, it’s probably haunted, Pappaw.” Great time.

Nice getaway

The property was the perfect location for our family’s getaway from the crowds. The space the property provided allowed our entire party to relax and enjoy each other's company the entire time. Becca was communicative and accommodating to say the least. We will be returning.

Truly unique stay, either for a family / friends hangout or for visiting Lincoln / Capitan / Ruidoso

My family and I loved staying at the house. The area is beautiful and secluded. It has a large number of beds and a seats and a very functional kitchen. I feel like there's two types of house rentals: the ones that are clearly just a minimally stocked place that hasn't had humans living there at length for years, and then rentals that feel lived in and loved, and has tons of small things. This house is very much in the latter better group. The house itself is covered in beautiful history and is very comfortable. I can't wait to plan a weekend around this with family and friends to all be together in one place, either just to hang out or to celebrate something or someone important.

A Little Slice of Heaven

Walnut Grove Ranch is so relaxing, peaceful and quiet. It's also a great place to step back into history. The yard surrounding the house is great for young imaginations. Lots of adventures to be had. The patios are great for outdoor dining and watching the wildlife.

Outside makes it worth it

The outside space of this property is unbeatable. We spent the entire weekend under the covered pavilion and it was glorious. The house served our purposes, though we had some issues with cleanliness. A couple of the beds had dirty sheets and the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes, and it had not been dusted in awhile. The house has a ton of character and interesting history. It was a fun quirky place overall.

The wild turkey's and peacock's put on a wonderful display! That alone was worth the stay. Well appointed and tastefully decorated. We could feel the history of the place.

The scenery and wildlife were amazing

We had a great stay at the property. The property manager was so friendly and nice. We would book again. The scenery and wildlife were beautiful. The history of the home, and items in the home, was like staying in a museum. We had an amazing time.

The Rubio's

Our stay at Walnut Grove Ranch was so peaceful and relaxing. The scenery and the house are just so beautiful I cannot express in words. I have five teenagers and they all had a blast exploring the property and learning all the history about the house and just Lincoln in general. Becca is the best host ever and was very responsive to any and all questions we had. We will definitely be planning another stay for much longer next time.

Wonderful family vacation!

There were 14 of us that consisted of three families. 6 adults and 8 kids (ages from 1-13). The home is very large and set-up in a way that we never felt crowded! It was extremely accommodating and the price is fantastic. Becca, the owner of the property, is so sweet and eager to assist with any and allllllll our questions (We had a lot) 😬. We hiked up the mountain on the property, fed the wild peacock’s and turkeys, enjoyed watching the Ram’s with their new baby’s, and the hogs at night were neat! We are from South East Texas, and it was definitely worth the 12 hour drive. Ski Apache is just a short drive and the kids LOVED that experience. You will not be disappointed with Walnut Grove!

Third year the best!

We feel at home at the Walnut Grove Ranch. Many upgrades this year. We love these mountains because quite a few of our ancestors lived and are buried in this area. The property manager/owner treats us like kinfolk.

The Brady’s

Walnut Grove Ranch is such a beautiful place. My great-great grandfather was Sheriff William Brady who was gunned down by Billy the Kid during the Lincoln County War. It was so magical to be given the opportunity to stay in his home and bring the Brady family together to share in this opportunity. Becca and her family are such great hosts. We truly thank them for everything.
