Town: Bolton le Sands is a small, sprawling village set back from the shores of Morecambe Bay, often forgotten because of its larger and busier neighbour Morecambe. With a nice selection of shops and pubs it is within easy reach not only of the fun seaside resort of Morecambe, but also of the quieter coastal villages of Silverdale and Heysham. Further afield, but still within very easy touring distance are the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland. Visit the refurbished railway museum in nearby Carnforth, location of the classic film Brief Encounter, then take the scenic trip along the coastal rail route from Carnforth to Barrow in Furness, stopping at picturesque towns along the way.
