Lime Tree House is a welcoming holiday home with character and luxury in abundance. An almost 200-year-old stone-built property, Lime Tree House is packed with original features like exposed stone walls and original beams. A well-located hub for visiting the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Lancashire, Lime Tree House is close to the local pub in the village of Holme. Offering a unique experience, you can expect a very high standard stay at Lime Tree House.
The Space:
If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, Lime Tree House is the ideal spot. Sleeping up to four guests, it’s the perfect place for couples, families and small groups of friends. With a spacious living room, kitchen diner, two bedrooms, an ensuite shower room and a family bathroom, you’ll have everything you could need for a self-catering stay in Holme.
The entrance hall has plenty of room for coats and boots so the property is perfect for walkers looking to explore the Lake and the Yorkshire Dales, including popular spots such as Ingleborough.
You’ll be able to prepare home cooked meals during your stay at Lime Tree House as the kitchen is packed with modern appliances and cookware. There is even the added bonus of a dishwasher so you can avoid washing the pots! Enjoy your meals at the dining area which includes a raised wooden table and four cushioned chairs, or head to the dining room where you'll find a spacious round table.
In the separate utility room, you'll find a large fridge freezer, as well as the washing machine and tumble dryer
The living room offers character and charm in spades. Boasting a vaulted ceiling and original beams, this space has a traditional cottage feel. Gather your loved ones together and cosy up on the velvet sofa and armchair. Turn on the TV and keep up with your favourite shows on Freeview or streaming apps.
Head to the master bedroom and you’ll find a relaxing space. Every care has been taken to ensure you have a comfortable night's sleep as the king size bed benefits from plush bedding and premium bed linens. You’ll have ample space to store your belongings as there is hanging space, a chest of drawers and bedside tables. The master bedroom also has an ensuite shower room with a walk-in shower, WC and basin.
The second bedroom at Lime Tree House also has a king size bed. A wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables and lamps complete the space.
A sofa bed can be made up on the living room upon request prior to your arrival, increasing the occupancy of Lime Tree House to six.
In between the bedrooms is the family bathroom. Boasting a modern bathtub, separate walk-in shower, WC and wash basin, you’ll be able to enjoy a relaxing cleanse or refreshing soak.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to Lime Tree House are accessed via a key safe box, and full details will be provided prior to check in.
Free parking is available nearby on a first come, first served basis. Full details will be provided prior to arrival.
A maximum of two well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay at Lime Tree House per reservation.
The Neighborhood:
The village of Holme lies adjacent to the Lancaster Canal, West Coast Main Line and M6 motorway so you’ll be able to explore the area with ease when staying here.
Amenities in the village include a public house called The Smithy Inn, a village hall, a playing field, a cricket pitch, and Holy Trinity Church.
Nearby Carnforth was just perfect for Oscar-winning director, Sir David Lean, when he chose the town’s railway station to film the most iconic scenes for his 1945 classic Brief Encounter, described as one of the greatest romantic films of all time. All these years on, you can watch the film in Carnforth station heritage centre at Carnforth railway station - winner of the 2019 tourism award! The heritage centre offers exhibitions, regular events and a gift shop. You can even take your picture under the famous clock which featured so prominently.
Carnforth is home to many independent shops but if outdoor pursuits are more your style, Warton Crag overlooks Carnforth.
Less than half and hour by car is Bowness and Windermere, probably one of the most popular destinations in the Lake District. Ambleside also just another five minutes from there with Grasmere and other lakes all easily reachable from the property.
Kirkby Lonsdale is market town that was voted as the best place to live in 2022. Here you'll find lots of small independent shops and plenty of bars, along with restaurants. All in all this is a very popular location locally.
Head to Ingleton to enjoy a waterfall walk and Ingleborough, or visit Greenlands where there are a range of things to do for families including soft play and crazy golf. You'll also find an hour-long walk down the canal, or alternatively you can take the bus route for a pleasant round trip.
Sizergh is a nearby National Trust site, while at Arnside there great views of bay and excellent fish and chips to be enjoyed.
Getting Around:
The nearest train station to Holme can be found in Carnforth where there are regular routes to Barrow-in-Furness, Grange-over-Sands, Lancaster, Leeds and Morecambe. Oxenholme mainline station is only two minutes further away than Carnforth.
Two bus routes can be found in Holme. Hop on the 99 to visit Kendal and Kirby Lonsdale, or take a trip on the 555 to take in the sights of Lancaster and Keswick.
The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford International, 58 miles away from Holme.
