About this property
Penpedwast Upper Barn, Newport
This beautiful stone barn has been renovated to create an idyllic holiday retreat in a tranquil location near Newport in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. A bird and wildlife paradise, there are regular sightings of badgers, foxes, buzzards and red kites.
Renovated with fine attention to detail, the cottage is stylish and contemporary, retaining its original charm and character with exposed stone walls, wooden beams, slate floors and a wood burning stove. Combining these with superior quality furnishings and fittings, Upper Barn provides the perfect romantic getaway.
Upper Barn is one of two cottages at Penpedwast, a peaceful setting in an area entwined by footpaths giving wonderful walks, with links to Pengelli Forest.
Nearby attractions include the Pentre Ifan burial chamber, the most famous of all Neolithic structures which has stood there for more than 4000 years; Castell Henllys, within walking distance of Penpedwast, a reconstructed Iron Age hillfort, complete with roundhouses; and the Preseli Hills, thought to be the source of the Stonehenge bluestones.
Nearby are the villages of Nevern, popular for its riverside location and Norman Church, Felindre Farchog and Newport, set on the estuary where the river Nevern meets the sea. It has a stunning, long stretch of sand, and a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants. In the opposite direction lies the bustling market town of Cardigan.
As well as walking the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and the moorland trails of the Preseli Hills, activities nearby include horse riding, golf, tennis, sea and freshwater fishing, kayaking and cycling.
