About this property
Snowdon, The Old School
The Old School Caeathro, has been recently renovated to a high standard and lovingly converted to three stylish holiday homes, Snowdon is situated at the back of the property . It has all the mod cons but retains its old charm. Its central location makes it ideal for touring all the main tourist attractions in North Wales. Whether outdoor activities, beeches, mountains, culture or historic sites you are looking for, they are all close by. We take two dogs, at a charge of £30 each per stay.
The space
The space
There are two double bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The ceilings are sloped and floors are natural varnished wood. Recently converted with masses of insulation the house is very warm and bright and full of character. The comfy beds are double and are both low to the floor because of the sloped ceilings.
The bathroom is tiled on the walls and floors, so be careful not to slip if it is wet. It has a shower over the bath, and there is always lots of hot water.
The living area, is large, open and light, and has tiled flooring, so slippers would be useful to bring. The open wooden stairs go up from this room to the bedrooms. The stylish, cream painted kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need, and is to one side and living area. To the other side is the sitting area with a lovely fireplace and two double sofas and an arm chairs. There is a flat screen free view television, books, dvds, tourist info, music cds, and wi fi, for your entertainment. The dining table with can sit six and is next to patio door it sits. All furnishings are to a high standard.
This open room is great when you all want to be together on holiday, you can cook, watch t.v, chat, use the wi fi etc in the same space.
Heating and water are electric and this is included you can control this yourself, but we ask that you don’t place thing on or next to the heaters of leave them on when you are out.
The designated patio area is through the patio doors, it is totally fenced off so safe for children and pets. There is a garden table and chairs to sit four, a lovely teak bench seat and a barbeque. Yr Wyddfa and Eryri our properties next door have a designated area close to it and this can be used as a large communal space for both properties if friends or family book together.
You can book the properties together for a bigger group. Eryri and Yr wyddfa sleeps six. So parties of 2,4, 6, 10, 12 or 16 can be accommodated. Please see further entries for Eryri, and Yr Wydffa at the Oldschool, or request details of these properties from the owner.
Guest access
Each property has free Wi Fi, free view T.V.,tourist information, DVDS, CDS, books for your use. Barbeque and outside tables and chairs. The kitchens are very well equipped, including a washing machine. Towels, bedding, tea towels, toilet rolls, cleaning products etc. are all included. There is a travel cot and highchair for children on request.
We take up to two well behaved dogs, and the garden area at the back is safe and secure.
The property is ideally placed for touring the local areas, visiting Historic Caernarfon 1.7 miles away, with its 13 century castle, the biggest most complete in Wales, where the Prince of Wales had his investiture, walk round the walls, old town, and sea front. Take a boat trip along the Menai Straits, potter in the tourist shops, eat in the lovely restaurants and cafes.
Snowdon the highest mountain in Wales can be walked from several locations a short drive from the house. Llanberis with Lyn Padern, and access to Snowdon by foot or train is 6.4 miles away. There is also National Trust and Cadew properties close by if you are interested in Welsh History and culture, eg, Penryn Castle near Bangor, Plas Newydd, and Conwy, Beaumaris , Criccieth, and Harlech Castles. The beautiful beaches on the Llyn Peninsula, Angelsey, and the North Wales Coasts.
All outdoor activities are available close by, Zip World the fastest zip wire in the world , mountain, coastal and countryside walking, climbing, sea, river, and lake water sports, road and mountain biking. Fishing, and historic narrow gauge railways are very close too. Its also great if you are visiting for events such as the Snowdon Marathon, Snowdon race, Iron Man etc.
Activities for families and children are also a short car drive away, Gipsy Wood, The Green Wood Centre, Pila Palace, Sea Zoo , bounce below, to name but a few.
There are good restaurants, pubs and cafes in Caernarfon, Llanberis, Bedgellert. The Sopna an award wining Indian restaurant which does take always too is just round the corner. Many take dogs so it’s worth asking.
The House is ideal for touring, so you will get the most out of its central location with your car, it is not ideal if you are using public transport. There are loads of lovely places to walk in the area, but you will need your car, the road outside can be busy especially at peak times so not recommended to walk on. Parking is available for two cars.
